I liked vice city...san andreas was great too though. Just wish I had a PS3 and some spare time....I would be all over that game. That game and Twisted Metal were the only reasons I bought my PS2.
I have Wii, but Wii would never have GTA.

I had 1 and 2. Never bought 3. My brother is asking for 4 for his birthday. Guess I'll have to get it for him.
1 and 2 were pretty weak I heard. Three is where it got amazing and actually pretty realistic. Vice City was pretty sweet as Woody said. San Andreas was just too long. I couldn't beat it without cheats . It was cool that you could work out and eat for the first 10 minutes but then it got boring.
I'm glad they ditched that in IV.
As of now, my favorite was probably III or Vice City because I was GLUED to III forever and still like to play it to mess around. I love being able to ride motorcycles though in Vice City and bikes in San Andreas.

GTA4 is awesome, but the walking speed is too darn slow. and the driving takes some getting used to vs. the previous versions. i've played all since GTA3. i was torn on whether to buy GTA4 for the PS3 or 360, and i decided on the 360 because it'll offer downloadable content.

Interesting. Didn't know you could get stuff for the 360 version. We have a PS3 so that's what we'll be getting it for.
The driving looked weird b/c the cars would bottom out during turns and stuff and they were slow to pick up speed. The wrecks look pretty real as do the highway handling characteristics.
I didn't pay attention to the walking speed really. I can't wait to play it when I get home in a few weeks
Btw, sweet new smileys

the driving is much more realistic. you actually have to use the brake in this version no more sliding around a corner at 60 mph and retaining control of the car.

Yea driving around town takes some getting used to at first. Just a quick tap on the e-brake and your already spinning out and lose all momentum. Though I like the whole dating thing in the game and going out to play different activities like darts or bowling.
Though it doesn't help that my gf went ahead and "accidentally" blew up my gf and myself while I was taking a shower. So now michelle doesn't want to hang out with me after that incident. She told me she was walking around with the girl and "forgot" that she had a grenade in her hand and accidentally dropped it and blew themselves up.
But overall, the detail in the city is unreal compared to the others in the series. Lots and lots of things to do which is awesome. I'd say it's a must have for your gaming system. Oh and all of you on PS3 hit me up, my s/n is kslyguy808 and we can jam the multiplayer side. Been wanting to try that out

Yeah my bro texted me and told me that it sucked. I told him he was a liar and about 20 minutes later he texted me saying it was getting better. I still haven't gotten another update from him but I'll call him a few.
Anyway, yeah once I get home (prolly the 12th I'll be able to check it out) I'll look you up on there. I'm interested to see how the multiplayer works. I've heard it's pretty interesting setup.

GTA IV is definitely the best so far. Until IV came out San Andreas was probably my favorite of the series. I actually went out the day after the game came out and bought a 360 so I could play the game because I had a Ps2 prior.
Online mode is definitely a lot of fun as well. I haven’t tried to many modes but I did play Free Mode where you can run around and do just about anything you want.
So is it like the old one where the game loads and you automatically start in the roaming mode or is it like other games where there's a screen? That was the best part about that was NOT having the menu screen to deal with at first.

Has anyone actually made it to the other islands and lived? I stole a helicopter with Michelle (nice date) but the cops would never stop chasing me. A couple of times I crashed us into buildings, boats, whatever and killed her. Take out a police helicopter by ramming into it, all in good fun of course.
Visually it's a good looking game. it's no BioShock but a pleasure to look at. It however is not very realistic. Every person on the street is a pissed off thug, ready to swear at you or start a fight. Most buildings cannot be explored and there's no children or pets to mangle. You also cannot rob people or businesses, which dampens some of the fun.
When you get a chance, jack a Maserati and hit the interstate, you'll never stop laughing.

GTA4's graphics are superior to its predecessors, but i don't know if the consoles have the ability to allow a sandbox game like GTA4 to have graphics like bioshock, which are amazing. i'm a little disappointed that you can't explore more buildings, but my god, imagine how much data would be required to explore all the buildings in the game! if they had children in the game that you could assault, the game would definitely have gotten an adults only rating
