This is a discussion thread titled "Ford recalls 655,000 f150 trucks from 05 to 06", within the Off-Topic forum, part of the General Forums category.
WASHINGTON - Ford Motor Co. is recalling more than 655,000 Ford F-150 and Lincoln Mark LT pickup trucks to fix a hose that could affect the vehicles’ braking power.
This kinda of makes our early gen tundra brake issues look like a walk in the park!!!

Oh I guess you haven't heard about getting spark plugs out Fords newer (3 valve) truck gas engines?
Seems even after you follow the TSB on how to remove them 2 or 3 are likely to break off in the cylinder head. Then the fun begins!
A new spark plug design, one of Fords better ideas, lets carbon build up on the end of the plug. If try to remove them without following the TSB they will break leaving part of the plug stuck in the head. Then a special procedure must be used to remove the broken plug, with the risk of piece getting into the engine.
Don't be surprised if a plug change cost 3-4 hundred dollars. Defiantly not something a DIYSer should even think about trying.

Good thing they have that new Ford commercial where they announce that they now have the same quality as Toyota. I didn't know whether to be happy for Ford or scared for Toyota.
omg lmfao

LOL... either way, that's a great testament to Toyota to be mentioned in a Ford ad as a level that they strive to reach.

They also mention the Camry in alot of the Chevy car comercials. Forget which car it is but it is their new sedan.

Exactly. Like those on this board, pointing to a Ford recall and justifying Toyota's quality decline in recent years by saying "......at least it's better than Ford".
At least Ford issued a recall on this, something Toyota should have done on the early Tundra brakes, but it was cheaper to stick it to the customers.
I've gotten at least 5 Recall notices in the mail on my '05 Sienna. Some minor stuff, like seatbelt binding or rear latch shock failing. One was a radiator hose coming off, not good. Another more recent, weld failure on the door which can result in the door falling off the van!
Not to mention a rear shock failed, replaced under warranty. Then the AC relay failed, got that replaced under the Platinum warranty(won't buy a new car without the extended warranty now, no matter what brand).
Why do I buy Toyota or Honda? Because yeah, past reliability has been proven to be better than Fords or Chevy's. But their quality has been in a steady decline, and I think it's because they use domestics as THEIR benchmark.

Didn't I read something about the Toyota CEO being replaced recently? Something about the last guy working the company more towards quantity over quality and that they're trying to reign it back in.

nono, they mention the Corolla in the Chevy Malibu commercials. I dunno if they mention the Camry in the Fusion commercials, but it's entirely possible that I've missed it. Ford seems to be focusing on the radio more than the car. I mean, it's just Bluetooth, right?

Mike, you may have never noticed those problems on your Van until you received the letter in the mail. The problems may never have even been a problem. It may have been a very small number of actual vans that had the problems, but the company is so scared of a lawsuit for 100billion dollars from 2 people, that they say F'it recall all of them and replace them, write it off.
It's lawsuits that drive recalls these days. Safety may be a priority, but I believe lawsuits are scarier. Why do you think one of Toyota's recalls for the 03-05 Tundra (SSC-70A) was for a STICKER advising the passenger of the airbag on/off switch. I freaking caution sticker recall!!!
I mean, the sticker bascially says, "Here. Read this. It's your problem now."
I'm sure there are other reasons, and I'm going to get some good responses from this, so the table's open _________
