So, Thursday I get home from work & walk into the kitchen. I spy a bowl of fresh peaches on the counter & my heart skips a beat. I know right away the fate of those red/yellow globes;peach cobbler! Sure enough, the wife gets home and says, "They need to ripen a bit then I'll make some cobbler". By Sunday you could smell them out in the living room. I want one so bad. This morning I go to make a pot of coffee & the kitchen is redolent with the sweet smell of peaches. Only the knowledge of the magic my wife will work on those babies kept me from eating my fill. Tonight, she'll be baking peach cobbler. An elixir that would humble Hillary & make allies of our enemies. My dad & I have a common accomplishment;we made good southern cooks of our northern wives. Of course they already had the talent. They just needed some direction. I think my talent is supervising! Quality control taste tester is a close second.

We were talking about peaches with some friends at dinner last night. A trucker brings Georgia peaches up and sells them out of his truck in a local parking lot. These are the real thing; they taste like peaches, not Styrofoam, they ripen slowly without spoiling, the juice runs down your chin when you take a bite.
Are peaches getting ripe down in FL, and GA already? I can't wait.

If you like peach cobbler that much, try so Ben & Jerry's Willie Nelson Peach Cobbler ice cream. MMMMMM...good!
OK. I'll look for it. I was leaving this open ended but if a question is helpful, what's your favorite dessert? Or, here's one;if you were(or are) on death row, what would you want as your last meal? Can you tell I'm off from work today?

Yeah, these are GA. peaches. My wife waits until they are good & juicy to make the cobbler. Hot from the oven with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The kind with the little vanilla bean specs in it.

I have a friend that has a bunch of peach trees on his property...every year they spend two days picking and canning peaches...he brings me several bushels full and I cook up a bunch of cobblers and send them out...it is so much fun!

I need a new word of the month people!
I'm waiting for peach season so that I can make some of my 'Whup Stick' shine. I make the mash solely from very ripe peaches, and some dixie crystal sugar....makes smooth shine that'll numb your lips and warm your throat. Looks like it's getting close, just need to make sure I get the Georgia peaches...here in TN, I may end up with Carolina peaches if I'm not careful...need to stay true to my roots.
To answer the question...peach cobbler
homemade peach ice cream
baked banana puddin' with merengue
I do the cooking and baking in my house. Ol' Bigguns is fairly decent at it, but she admits that it's more my talent, and leaves me to surprise her with my concoctions. When it comes to cobblers, cakes, bars, sauces, salads, chillis, etc...I'm the one pulling out the stops...Southern style. I love it though....I enjoy seeing others enjoy my cooking.

We have a nice peach tree right out side our back patio and they are dead ripe right now. My wife likes to let em ripen on the tree ( just this minute she walked in and shows me a Siamese peach she picked). We covered the tree with netting but some birds got in. Some didn't make it out though. I protect my peaches.

I just hope you don't mix up your work recipes with your home ones.
The Georgia Peach truck came today! They're a little under ripe, but in a day or 2 we're going to have some fine peaches to munch.
The semi was parked at Big Lots, and the line was across the parking lot, and 1/2 way back again. These aren't grocery store peaches.
