While we pay $4 for a gallon for gas, the best our democratically controlled congress can do is to offer a bill that would increase taxes on oil companies. Does anyone really think that raising taxes on oil companies will motivate oil companies to produce more fuel and get it to consumers? Just look back in time to the gas shortages of the late 70's for the answer. This bill was defeated yesterday thankfully. While our elected officials are wasting time and our money in Washington, China and Cuba have struck a deal to drill for oil off Florida's coast! Our own enviromental policies are preventing us utilizing our own resources while China and Cuba come and get it! Whom do you think would be more concerned with the environment while drilling off our own coast?

I really don't think that there is ANY HOPE of the liberals ever waking up to our economic situation. They think that taxing the rich guy is the answer. It won't happen. You will drive him to work with his money overseas. WE are in a world economy. The national scene is OVER and OUT.
Of course they are going to tax the crapola out of the middle class. This is their history. Where are the true conservatives? Who will stand up for the regular working stiff? It is very hard to see anyone on the scene. Most of the true blues conservatives have been bought out.

I wholeheartedly agree. Those fat bastards on capitol hill did nothing to earn more money and shouldn't get a penny of it. I would much rather see the profits be distributed to the shareholders of the oil companies than corrupt politicians. The Republicans in Congress finally did something right.
