Im stuck on what to get. Should i look into a Glock 27 or a Springfield XD .40 s&w subcompact? Looking to purchase a good all around concealed carry choice in a month or so.
I definitely want my choice in the .40 cal. Whats the pros/cons of each?
To be honest, i think i like the XD's alot better but i know others have more experience than i do.

Those are both good pistols...although I have a problem with the 27 since the grip is so short.
Another nice compact that you might consider is the S&W M&P 40 compact. They have a nice grip feel and a little longer grip than the GLOCK 27.
I have a 27, love it. If you get one, buy the magazine extension. It will give you an extra round, 10 total, plus a place to put your pinky finger. The thing is as accurate as my full size glock 17, and it fits in my pocket in a holster, or on my ankle.......

It seems people who love one tend to hate the other. I don't know if it is brand loyalty or just how they fit in certain people's hands. My advice is to go to a range that rents handguns and run some lead through both. Of course if you intend on shooting exposed lead bullets, go with the XD since you would have to buy an aftermarket barrel for the Glock.

yeah i did read about the XD's being able to shoot lead, but then again all the rounds i have now aren't lead so not much worry. But i have shot the XD and i loved it, but ive never shot a glock and i dont know of any gun shops around here that rents them to try.
I did see yesterday that the XD's are cheaper than the glocks.

Exactly what I did, and chose the HK USP Compact .45...
Just had to pay the $5 range fee and buy the rounds, they let me try their samples as much as I wanted/needed to make a decision.
Even ended up buying it somewhere else.

just went and looked at the XD .40, Sig 220 .40, S&W mp40, and Glock 17. Wasnt allowed to shoot them, but i put my hands on them and figured what i liked from that.
I don't like the glocks. I love the feel of the XD's. But im also liking the Sig, but i think it might be alittle to big to conceal. I think its between the XD .40, Sig, or the S&W.

The P220 isn't meant for concealed carry. Look at the P229, or better yet, the P239. I wear my P239 in an IWB under just a t-shirt all the time. The only real issues in going to the Sig is price.

Stick with the Glock. Its tried and true. The XD is a good pistol and probably will never give you any problems, but let me share some anecdotal things with you. Keep in mind that this is not hard data but just something to keep in mind.
I took a class from a group called Tactical Response. This was fairly hard core training. In two days, we went through about 1000 rounds. Under good conditions, any gun will be fine for 1000 rounds. Conditions are not always good though. The guns get dirty, thrown in the dirt, shot when wet, hot and dusty.
After the class, I had a chance to talk to the instructors. I asked about pistol reliability. They are not fans of the 1911 and even though mine had just completed the class without any problems, they felt they were more prone to breakage. They also didn't like the XD. They said they saw several of them go down during the classes. The gun they all chose was the Glock. They had the least problems, the fewest jams and generally made it though without head aches.
There is one weakness with the Glocks and its one the instructors discussed. That is the front sight. Its fragile and needs replaced. They use the XS Big Dot but any replacement sight will make the Glock a better gun.
Anecdotal, right? Take it for what its worth.

We didn't discuss the Sigs, but they are fine pistols. My only objection to the Sig is the same as I have with any traditional DA/SA pistol. I don't like them. I want a short, consistent and crisp trigger pull with a short and distinct reset. Any DA/SA is going to have two different trigger pulls and most have very long and sometimes, ambiguous reset points. Most also require slack after the reset. The Glock and 1911 have very managable triggers. From both a competition and a combat perspective, this is a big deal.
