Yeah im pretty sure about that. If a guy has mutiple guns and is a good distance from you in say, an open classroom, what are you going to do with no weapon? Im not calling you out im saying just in general.

Dead bodies make good shields, as do phenolic topped desks. Hit someone in the nose and they will be temporarily blinded. Hard-backed books, coffee mugs, filled water bottles, cell phones among other things can be thrown with great accuracy and plenty of force at distances up to around 30 ft or so. Necks are easy to break. It never ceases to amaze me at how many "heroes" want to help out once someone makes the 1st ballsy move.
A standard drinking straw can be shoved straight through a human esophagus.
But who cares? I am just a big talker on the internet, really, just a big talker that's all.

I never said that...im pretty much the same when i comes to a situation like this i almost never back down. But if your thirty feet away throwing a cell phone and a coffee mug may work for a second or two unless he moves or swats them away. If you have his full attention making a ballsy move is not very smart and those desk are not good sheilds. I have shota few of them with shot guns and .44's and the particle board tops fall to pieces and the metal on the bottom is aluminum and its not as strong as you think.

Not me, I'll play the hero even it that makes me become a victim, hasn't failed me yet...knock on wood.
That doesn't necessarily mean I will stand in front, but I don't enter into situations without thinking out some sort of plan should the s4!t hit the fan.
I guess what I'm saying is, I'd be the one to shoot/stab/murder/make an example of first, otherwise I'm gonna become a problem.
....today's world
Im the same way...would be hard to live with myself if I didnt try to help, so if I died trying it would probably be worth it. Im not gonna judge what other people do in situations like this but 30 plus people couldnt take this guy down before he killed or disgraced this guys body???

I need a new word of the month people!
If we are ever in a situation where neither you nor I are armed, but there's a guy with multiple guns shooting people, I want you with me.
I think that's the whole point. The bad guys have the opportunity to plan and bring whatever weapons they want to the situation. Why on Earth people want to give up their right to have the means to defend themselves is something I'll never understand. BTW, if we are ever in a situation together in the USA, it's a pretty good bet one of us will be armed.

- This guy was Canadian-Chinese and was working for an Edmonton newspaper as a news carrier.
- He stabbed the guy forty to fifty times.
- He cut the guy's head off and carried it to the front of the bus like a psycho that didn't know what his other hand was carrying. (Eyewitness reports state that he was pretty out of his mind) It also was reported that he was defiling the body and attempting to eat the parts.
- RCMP mentioned that he had *NO* criminal record
- Guns are not allowed in Canada, period. IF you buy one, you have to have a firearm license in addition to a gun registration submitted.
- There was more than one way to apphrend the guy -- from the front of the bus or from the sides of the bus forward of the rear (as in left and right sides)
Sanosuke!
So then, guns ARE allowed in Canada, you just need a license and permit? Sounds a lot like CA to me.
I think what the other riders did in this situation is acceptable. They basically locked the guy on the bus so the police could come and get him right there. Realistically, it's probably the best decision. By the time they realized what was going on, the victim was probably dead or past the point of saving. No sense getting a few more people killed.

Hate to say it, but...yeah. If I were the dead guy, I'd hate to think some of you got yourselves cut or killed trying to take the guy down when I was already gone, when you could wait ten minutes to plan a non-lethal takedown.
...preferably so you could do to him what he did to me, while he's still kicking. In fact, if a guy stabbed me fifty times and ate my head, I'd really appreciate if you'd chain him to the bus by his nuts and drag him around, but I'd really not like to see anyone else killed on my now-deceased account...so it's awful hard for me to second guess those people without having been there myself.
Sounds like the guy was on something. It could have happened to anyone else on that bus...I avoid buses, bus people, bus terminals, the rescue mission, the soup kitchen, and on and on...
This is one of the more ****ed up things I've heard about, ever.

There are some limitations on the type of guns you can buy. Hand guns can be purchased, rifles, shotguns and cross bows.
I think shot guns are limited to 3 shells.
I'm not sure if there's a limit on semi-auto rifles.
I don't think you can buy any full auto weapons, regardless of your license, unless its for police force.

The price of a full auto and license here in the states make it something that the vast majority of Americans cannot own one. The license goes with the firearm. Since there is a limited number of them, they run in the thousands.
I read this morning that he had the guy's ears, nose, and lips in his pocket at the time of his arrest. Apparently at his arraignment his only comment was asking the judge to "kill him". You can't help but to be disturbed when you hear stories like this, it's unfortunate that this is the world we live in. At least it's not the norm...
