This is a discussion thread titled "Ford F150", within the Off-Topic forum, part of the General Forums category.
I think its a decent truck now that it has a 6spd tranny in it. The numbers are a little weak in the hp and torque dept though...320 and 390. Overall I think its the second best looking truck out there.

I can't speak for the new '09 150s, but my boss just purchased a used '05 doublecab, and I rode in the back of it for the first time last week. Anyone who criticizes the rear passenger space of the doublecab Tundras needs to take a ride in the back of the (now old) 150. My knees were in my ears and i was plastered against the back of the front seat. I didn't realize how much TALLER the cab of the Tundra is compared to the 150. I think our '03 MINI Cooper had more rear passenger room than the Ford.
Aside from spitting out sparkplugs and failing transmissions, they're an ok truck. From a cosmetic point of view, they don't look bad at all.

Not a bad looking truck, but remember that it's a ford. My work truck (07 f150) has warped the front brake rotors twice and needed the throttle body injector(s) replaced already at 30K.
97 s/c 4x4 v6 tacoma - even a s/c toyota will last a very long time (229k) , great truck sold to friend
03 modded mustang cobra vert - very impressive engine when modded, not a very good chassis, irs sucks
99 modded ls1 t/a - pretty impressive engine when modded, good chassis with minor mods, likes nitrous
96 modded tt mkiv - impressive engine if lots of boost, little power under 4k rpm, don't street race on cold drs (totalled)
05 modded hemi durango - pretty good power, not good offroad, hemi is overrated (would probably lose 0 to 60 to 4.7L 4runner above)
Which truck will spend less time in shop being worked on would be of more importance to me. But that question is kinda already been answered a million times over buy sales numbers!
Hey, my front rotors were warped too and they've resurfaced them once with the problem worse than it was 5K miles ago. I have 18900 miles on my truck btw.
I like the way it looks, but not as much as past designs - that's for sure. The power will get the job done. It won't be the fastest but it's going to do the job just as well as any other truck.
Anyway, the quality of this truck is going to be second to none (or so it looks like from what I've read about it).
i personally dont like the front look.. i like the silverado look wayy more. but i mean that gain in power is decent... not enough to make it a beast but it will be a little bit better than the 07... it should be better than the tundra in hauling right... cuz we can only haul about 1600 lbs right? and those are known to do 2k easily?

That's like saying, "Except for snapping camshafts and messed up torque convertors, the Tundra is great."

Silverado is ugly......Sierra is the good lookin' sister.
As far as payload, based on last years GVW's, all the manufacturers were very close.
Trucks that had 7200GVW's had the Tundra with a very slight payload advantage over the Ford since it was slightly lighter.
The GM's were a good 300+ pounds lighter.
Rumor has it the new 150 is quite a bit lighter meaning if the GVW's are the same, it'll have a higher payload.
There was ONE Ford 150 at 8,200 GVW that obviously had a higher payload but it was only available in a regular or super cab long bed with 4.10's.

I think the Tundra raised the bar, by a LOT in the powertrain but left a LOT to be desired for in everything else. The old Tundra with this powertrain would be ideal (plus a bit in size). The Ford, if these quality checking measures work, will have a quality truck that will have a little bit left to be desired to in terms of power. Low end torque is the name of the game. Fords may lack HP but they used to be number one in low end torque (Tundra took that title). Maybe they'll boost their torque to be even lower than the Tundras. If they did that, the true truck guys would love it.

No such thing as "throttle body injectors" on a port FI motor.......try again.
