I don't buy individual stocks other than one that I get good shares and a discount on. Otherwise I'm in funds and real estate...long term stuff. My 401k and my IRA (just like everyone elses') is in the toilet, but that's money I'm not touching for a long time, so getting upset about it wouldn't do much for me. In that regard I'm lucky. Those that are within 5-10 years of retirement are not as fortunate, though. To answer your question, I didn't really feel relieved. But I never really felt nervous, either.
Cheers!

I too am in Funds and Bonds. Sold all the stocks long ago...thank god.
It's a little early to breathe a sigh of relief. Not to sound negative but just because an upsurge has occured, doesn't mean we're out of the woods into an economic recovery.
It's a long road ahead and as I've said in the past, it's also a time when millionaires are made...just be wise.
You might have done good on your GM stock. Just keep an eye on it with the possible acquisition of Chrysler.
Then we'd go from the Big Three to the Big Two.

They both still make two valve pushrod engines, so they might as well merge.
Funds are just collections of stocks. Once your investments go above about 100,000 you're probably better off picking stocks. Go for value, consider for long term, don't get over invested in any one industry or any one geographical region, and get 100 shares (or multiples) at at time.
GE is looking pretty good.

GE is a good one. Kimberly Clark is another good long term stock. People may cut back on some things but they're not going to scrimp by buying the scratchy stuff. Copper, Zinc and timber are accelerating.
