I think I am going to get me an XS to chop up. A little more in my reach then building a harley plus I liked the Triumphs and they are basically a triumph copy. A triumph without the troubles.

Somehow I survived my first big sportbike...I had an early 80's Kaw GPZ1100 for the learning curve. Only laid it down once and I think that calmed me down a bit afterwards. Man that thing would sing with that Vance & Hines exhaust! I have had my current bike, 97 Yamaha YZF 1000, for 12 years now. Still happy with it even with 40K miles. Comfy enough to sport tour on, ride the little woman, hit a track day once in a while or run 10.4's at the drag strip.
The Yamaha in MXSJW's post, reminds me of an uncle's Yamaha Midnight Special 850 triple he had. Got to ride it a few times as a kid without killing myself.
