Default Nuclear Energy

Why is it that US citizens can't have Nuclear Energy, but Obama and his ilk encourage Iran, Iraq and other
countries to build Nuclear Energy plants? Starting this winter, our electric bills are going to begin skyrocketing...
what is the Obama administration doing to prevent the deaths of US citizens found frozen or over heated in their homes?

Why would the IAEA be working to prevent the USA from building new Nuclear power plants?

And... why is Obama not doing a thing to put more Nuclear Power plants online in the US?

Its because North Americans are becoming less intelligent. We can't have a reactor running 30 years from now, nobody will know how it operates.

Yes, the first sign of this diminished intelligence was first noted here in the states the evening of November 4, 2008 and it was confirmed on Jan 21, 2009.

It is unfortunate. I would have loved that "stimulus" money be used for technology development to help use up more of that nuclear fuel so we don't have to store it so long.....all of our old plants have ancient technology.

Where is that clean coal development?

How about drilling off of the coasts and capping the wells? That way, if an oil producing country pisses us off...all we have to do is stop buying their oil? Why not crush the economies of those who hate us? We can do it!

No...lets give the money to GM, worthless people who refuse to take care of themselves, and other pet projects. I hate our politics. Somehow...we have forgotten how to look out for ourselves first and others second.

I want nuclear energy, natural gas powered semi trucks, and the terrorist controlled countries to starve to death (we could learn something from Canada and their investment in getting oil out of their oil sands).

I have to agree in large part. I am not truly a protectionist or an isolationist, but I am all for self-sufficiency. Self-sufficiency-ist? Whatever, it seems to me that if we want to make ourselves stronger and safer, we become self-sufficient. If we don't need what the other guy has, then he can't hold it over us.

I'm all for exploring and developing alternative energies, but I am also all for nuclear, clean coal and hydro-electric power. Stop worrying about every snail-darter and minnow that is "unique" to a specific stream. Alternatively, develop hydropower that solutions that don't require dams that completely obstruct water flow. I could go on, and on, and on.

The US does have to revisit the nuclear plant issue. They had decades to come up with something else and have failed. It would be worth it to america to build plants if we could manage to avoid the greedy contractors that would put our country in jeopardy to earn a few buck shortchanging the quality of material used.
Just the process of starting the building would drop oil prices. they would realize that we would need them less so they would drop prices to make nuclear plants less desirable.
But americans need to do their part. how about making home improvements that save energy. Move out of those Mc Mansions that house maybe 1 or 2 people. Maybe offer to share your home with some well deserving young college coeds to reduce urban sprawl.

I was totally against all this so called "stimilus" spending. That being said, if it had been spent for building more nuclear plants, oil/gas exploration, more refineries, nuclear fusion research, clean coal, hell another moon/mars space shot, we would have at least have seen some benifit out of it in the future. As of now, it is all being just pissed away with no results except crushing debt.

Ever since 3-Mile Island and Chernobyl, a lot of nuclear development in the US has been stifled by NIMBY. Nuclear power plants suffer more from your average lemming being afraid of his kids growing a 3rd eye than any one politician.

BTW, the first two nuclear power plants in Iran were provide to the Shah in the 1960's by who? Yes, the United States of America.

I think everyone knows you hate Obama, however, you can't blame the enormous collective stupidity of the American people over the past 3 decades on one guy.

We can make Nuclear power plants on subs, and aircraft carriers but not here? wtf?? O, and as for the Clean Coal option, If you ever watched many of prezbo's running speaches, he swore to shut down and bankrupt anyone opening any coal plants. Power or otherwise. He has no desire to improve america, only to appologize for our great missdeads. Like saving eourope from Germany during ww2, and liberating kuwait from hussien. Those things interest him more than saving america, without socialism.

But the last of that is more my opinion, the beginning can look up his campaign speeches and find what i am talking about on bankrupting coal company's.

More and more of his saving america lies

chucky

Everyone knows that you love and obey Obama no matter what, but you need to know that it's not the NIMBY crowd, it's the liberal extremest environmentalist that have stifles all efforts to make the US energy independent.

PrezBO, your savior, supports liberal extremism and I do blame Obama for enabling liberal extremest wackos and their collective stupidity.

Your problem is that you are too busy just regurgitating your party's political banter to even look, read & think about what others are saying. If you were actually reading, you would know that I have no particular love for Obama.

I guess that someone like me, who wants Social Security and Medicare shut down today so I can get my tax rebate, someone like me who is fervently for a consumption tax, someone like me who loathes the idea of socialized healthcare (I believe my exact words were to let those who didn't have healthcare at least have the dignity not to die in the streets), someone like be who ranted about bailouts for banks, car manufacturers, etc must be a liberal whacko. I hated the bailouts. I wanted to let the banks and insurance companies who ran their Vegas-style market to go out of business--depression or not. I've spoken out against the minimum wage, decried the unions and stated that America severely overpaid our unskilled labor--to our detriment. I have been a big proponent of pure capitalism, down to removing all regulations, anti-trust laws, the FDIC--every bit of socialism, but I guess you missed that.

You are so blinded by your "with us or against us" hard line conservativism, that you fail to recognize that. The difference between you and I is that while I didn't care for Bush, I recognized that his failure could mean all of our failure, but you--you want all of us to fail so that you feel vindicated in your derision for a man who really isn't that big a player in grand scheme of things anyway. Unfortunately for America, there are a lot of people like you, and the partisan bickering is going to be a bigger player in the wasted opportunity that America is GOING to be in 50 years than any one president.

About the NIMBY folks--tell you what. You go make a 10-mile circle from your back yard and and see how many signatures you can get on a petition to build a nuclear power plant there. I'm betting a number REAL close to zero. Try 20 miles. Try 50 miles. BTW, environmentalsits tend to favor nuclear power......It really is the NIMBY crowd that is keeping this from happening.

What do you think my party is?

As for the NIMBY factor... it is insignificant when compared to what Obama, Gore
