If you or a relative is in the US Military ... make sure you get ALL important info. (injuries & medical treatments) documented in your SMRs.
(Service Medical Records).
ALWAYS keep a COMPLETE copy of those SMRs in a secure place that you can access.
This is super important later when a "claims issue" or etc. arises.

I'm envious. Of course if I went I would have to take the Mrs. She's the best back-seat driver I've ever known...in fact, she's the only back-seat driver I've ever known.

Geez, you could at least let her up in the front passenger seat.

"Back seat driver" was only a figure of speech. She does sit up front in the passenger seat. She is equally effective in both front or back.
I must say that driving my Tundra is a much more satisfying experience for me than the Avalon because the Tundra has the same "Mother-in-law" gauges that the '61-'63 Ford Thunderbirds had. With the deep-dish gauges she can't see how fast I'm going from the front passenger side.

When I was about that guy's age (early 30s) , I started traveling all over the world on business. That was a cool experience ... but to do it as an adventure and by yourself via land ... would be super cool.

Somebody should make a Bering Strait bridge. I would come over for sure driving the Tundra into America. Traveling the world with my Tundra, i wouldn't hesitate if i was financial independent.

That would be very cool indeed.
There used to be Nissan Pathfinder commercial about this couple driving to South America...
Certainly he is going to run into some difficulties, but life is about confronting these, not about staying at home where it's safe, wishing you had gone.
More power to him. Given the opportunity I'd go in a heartbeat.
