I would be upset too. How dare they try to give me something that will improve my quality of life, possibly even extend or save my life.

I believe you need to re-examine all of the premises implicit in your above statement.

I would assert that they are not "giving" me anything. They are planning on "requiring" me to have something of their choosing, or face penalties for not having such. To do so, they will take something that I, and the majority of Americans, already have, by the way.

In the process, they are creating something that will have extraordinary costs, hardly something "given," a situation in which not only will I be in greater debt, but so will my children, and their children, and will have more control over my and their daily existences in the future.

In short, they are taking away from my "quality of life," and given the government's ability to effectively run....anything.... I question whether it will save my life anymore than that required by hospitals in emergent situations now.

So, yes, how dare they.

Its all conjecture at this point. I suppose some facts wouldn't help, like, the fact that Universal Health care Systems worldwide are less expensive than the current American system. Now couple that with the fact that not all Americans have health care, and it really starts too look lopsided.

Facts? OK let me see...

Fact: The federal government has an abominable record at running any program effectively and at projected costs. Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, Welfare, the Military, you name it.

Fact: The current plan is, the last I checked, at 800 Billion. That means 800 Billion in addition to the current U.S. Budget. It also means that IF everything comes in at cost.

Fact: at 800 Billion dollars, it would be cheaper for the government to simply BUY private coverage for all of the uninsured Americans. If the government coughed up 10000 dollars for all 35 million uninsured Americans (figures vary, but the upper end without including illegals that I have seen is around there) we would still save over half. (10,000 x 35,000,000= 350,000,000,000) Heck, at 20 grand, we STILL save 100 Billion.

Fact: If we passed legislation that streamlined the system, including tort and malpractice reform, exclusion of illegals, etc..., consumer costs would stabilize and probably decline. Definitely true if you add regulation and the ability for insurance companies to compete across state lines.

Fact: It is simply not conceivable for a private, for profit entity to compete with a government entity that can work at a loss and can tax more to make up any differences.

Fact: At 2000 pages, there is no ability to tell what is buried in the bill and the repercussions, even within the 72 hour review period.

Should I continue with just the facts, Detective Friday?

You should listen to doc, or perhaps really read things outside the norm for you. I love fox news, as such that shows i am anti obama, but, i still watch cnn and the other news to see how other people, other than fox, twist the news to thier desired effects. I do this so i can get a view outside of my box to see if i can convert or gain more confidence in my thoughts and opinions.

Please, god i beg you please, read things other than what the feel good stations want to shove down your throught. go read information before you say things like that. "will improve your life" that is a crock, how does it improve my life with the addition of extra taxation just because i work? or because i can afford a better health plan than some? Or even if i decide to later change plans, I will be forced to buy the government option without the ability to choose a private one?

These are things that are totally inside the bills they are negotiating. The idea of wealth distribution, rich tending to the poor, socialism can only work as long as there is wealth still in the country. Once the rich flee for their money, and the government has run out of people to take from, they will start to turn on themselves and still collapse as the people beneth them wallow in failing. Heck it's going to become more profitable to sit at home than own a buisiness, and when everyone gets there, well no one working, no gdp, no sales, no exports, no one left to steal from.

Ya, thats a heck of a plan. wow, change you can count on...1 finger.

good luck, hope you see the truth, hope you explore and look around, not just at your current sources, but watch the opposition, see what they say, then look that up for yourself. If they are wrong, prove it, you might find thier wrongs are actually more correct than what you have been watching.
