Personally, I am glad that the "shooter" is alive. He can be handled by the military now and shown for the coward that he really is.

I just hope he does not get off for being nuts.

We need to give a lot of "kudos" to the lady police officer who took 3 rounds (both legs and hand I think) while taking him down.

This female police officer probably saved many more lives.

What exactly do these idiots think they're going to accomplish? (This guy, who is evidently a Muslim, is just the latest in a long list of home-grown terrorists). If they want to die because their life is awful, there are a lot of ways to accomplish that aim. But why take out a bunch of innocent bystanders, people who have lives and loves and families and friends, all who will suffer from the actions of one deranged individual.
Also, does he not realize that this will further entrench the animosity of the many non-muslims who will equate his own actions with the entire muslim faith, and further divide the country?
My condolences to the killed and wounded and their families. To the perpetrator: you're still alive, you got more than you deserve.

That is what I was wondering too. Being a psychiatrist he may be able to put on a convincing psycho act.

I hope he is charged and convicted for first-degree murder.

Then put to death by one of his own...a poisonous snake.

People in that state of mind don't think of the consequences. It is the same with suicides. Be happy that you can't relate to such behaviors.

I just saw a couple interviews with Retired Col Jack Jacobs where he claimed that one man couldn't inflict that many casualties by himself and some must have been by friendly fire. What a dumbas, he probably doesn't know about hi capacity mags and shooting unarmed people in and enclosed area. I just wish they wouldn't provide prople like him with a public forum. I believe they said he had the CMH? He also claimed that we need Muslims in the service since there are 10,000 in there. I really don't know how to answer that but you know some will side with any Muslims on the other side. I know mistakes were made in WW2, but Japanese/Americans weren't allowed in the Pacific Theater, but distinguished themselves in Italy.

You were referring to Colonel Jack H. Jacobs of course who was awarded the CMH for his actions in Vietnam.

Turns out the guy was pissed about Iraq/Afghanistan. Faked his diploma, never graduated from Virginia Tech. Never was deployed. Had orders this summer to go over. Started shooting our returning members. Currently in stable condition. Probably a homegrown terrorist or a plant.... either way I dont care. Remember folks, on a military installation, its the UCMJ that rules. He will be on bread and water until trial then will most likely be put to death. The military deals swiftly and harshly to those who harm our own....

I think the bread and water diet is too harsh. His diet should also include protein...such as beetles or other hard-shelled bugs.

I think a plate of delicious pork chops and nothing else should be delivered to his cell every day until he is executed.

I'm OK with pork chops, but I'd never share my bacon.

He's only worth bugs, and then only long enough until they put him away.

.

Yikes, she is very lucky.

My neighbor who used to live across the street. She survived the "Daytrader Shooting" when Mark Barton did the biggest mass murder in Georgia's history about 10 years ago. She was just outside the office door (where he killed the manager) at the second daytrader area that he shot up. She had powder burns on her face, but the round missed her head and she hit the floor and played dead, then ran and hid in a closet.

She & others actually talked to Barton when he came in that daytrading area, before he went into the manager's office and started shooting. He had just come from shooting up another daytrading office in another building some 100 meters away.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_O._Barton

She was never the same ... I saw her a couple of years ago and she had daytraded her life away.

Traumatic events like that and survivor's guilt can be with you for the rest of your life. Hope she handles surviving well.

PS ... All these shooters were in the 35 to 45 y/o range too. Daytrader Barton and Orlando office shooting last week (these 2 guys kinda looked the same) ... and Fort Hood shooter were all about same age.

Now the media is starting the spin.... he was stressed... sure of course he was, that's why he was shouting praise to alluh as he shot people... 'cause he was just stressed, his religous beliefs had nothing to do with it.

What did someone say... oh ya, your car broke down because god willed it. So I guess he shot those people because god willed it.
