Default One of the tv video inputs doesn't seem to work, any ideas?

I have a Sony KDF-E42A10 tv I bought 3 years ago and just this week it has started to act up. On the "Video 4" input, I have my hd cablebox connected to via component outputs. And so recently whenever I switch to video 4, the screen will be normal for a few seconds, then flash a couple times, go dim, and then the colors will be scrambled. I have my xbox and ps3 connected to other inputs as well and they work perfectly fine. The change lamp indicator has not gone off.

What do you think it could be? The cablebox? Could the tv lamp need to be replaced? Not sure why it would affect just one of the video inputs as opposed to all of them. I can watch normal tv if it's on the regular channel 3 station on the actual tv.

Swap the cable box to one of the known good inputs (xbox or ps3) and report back the results. If the picture comes up fine, its a bad input. If the picture comes up the same as the input 4 does (which is what I think will happen) the box is bad. My cable HD box did that all the time. I will never go to cable again, the equipment sucks and the service was really unreliable. That was in rural Alaska though. Anyways, if the box is bad then take it back to the cable company and demand a new one. That should solve your problems! Let me know if you need any more help or troubleshooting.
