Default Near death experience on another forum

I just had a rather frightening experience that I don’t think I’ll ever do again.

Being one of the biggest supporters of the New England Patriots this world has ever produced I am naturally excited with the outcome of the NFL playoffs and am anxiously awaiting this Sunday’s Super Bowl.

I was checking out a “message board” on one of the sports pages here on the Internet. Okay, I admit to being rather naive when it comes the exchanging of views in a public forum. Actually, TS is about my only experience. Some of these people, and I use that term for lack of a better one, are insane and borderline psychotic!

I didn’t realize you could get into a verbal equivalent of a bar room brawl by merely expressing your opinion on a game that hasn’t even been played yet.

I’ve been a diehard Pats fan for almost 40 years and was accused of being a “jump on the bandwagon” type of fan. Okay, that’s no biggie, but now I’m being accused of having some type of incestuous kind of thing with my mother!

Well the jokes on them! My mother’s been dead since 1975!

I gotta tell ya, in my younger days I spent a lot of time in bar fights and it took me a long time and a bunch of busted bones to figure out that nobody was ever, really, the winner. Especially considering the “winners” prize at the end. More often than not she looked like she was akin to some Hungarian goat herder here on vacation from the farm…..but I digress.

I think I’ll stay put here on Tundra Solutions where the very worst that seems to happen to me is that I’m proven incorrect on a given topic. Just call me Walter Mitty the second!

A special thanks to all my fellow TSers that allow me to express my views without the threat of bodily harm to myself or my family and thank you for never threatening to burn my house down!

Oh yeah, the Pats win 21 to 3. Hey, if you’re gonna dream…..dream big!

I've noticed the same thing.

Other boards are pretty harsh!

The only other one that seems about as helpful as this one is http://www.satelliteguys.us

I have been a member there for about 2 months, ever since I got my HDTV Satellite. Good board there!

Well, I am with you on the Super Bowl, the Pats will win but not by the margin you indicated. It will be a 21-14 Pats victory.

My first Super Bowl in HD! Gotta love it!

Oh, don’t get me wrong here. There is no way I’m going to stoop to their level. I just think it’s ridiculous that people act this way when they don’t even know the individual they are threatening. Also, I find the easiest way to solve a problem of this nature, on a computer at least, is to simple back out of the conversation and watch the other idiots rip each other apart. Entertainment of this nature just isn’t my cup of tea.

Now, if it were person to person, I’d have a reason to determine just what it was that made a person act this way and try to solve the dilemma, assuming I cared about the person that was going ballistic. If it were a total stranger, let them or think whatever they wish. Who cares?

Cool Lol

Philly fans were flooding the Buccaneers.com message board up until the Championship game. It's fun razzing them. Some can be major a$$holes. They were pretty quiet after the game. I didn't bother messing with the Raider Nation. Last time the Bucs played them we were spanked 45-0.

I was born in NE (CT.) and used to root for the Pats but in this case, Let's keep the Trophy in the NFC South - Soon to be the toughest division in football. Panthers 13 Pats 10

Its easy to throw out insults and threats when the only thing infront of you is a keyboard and a monitor. In a way that mentality is contributing to the demise of the family unit in the fabric of todays society.

Having said that-
THE PATS ARE GOING DOWN BABY!!! PANTHERS RULE

It amazes me how badly people treat each other, especially when they are not face to face. Road rage is another favorite example of mine. Would you do the same thing you did in your car if you were facing the other driver? Usually not. Doesn't help the species evolve.........
