Default I'm thinking of going back to Ford....Mustang that is!!!!

OK, here it is, I'm laying the cards on the table now. I'm not thinking of getting rid of my Tundra, so don't jump on me. I AM thinking of getting the new 2005 Mustang, or that body style when the 2006 comes out. I've actually had dreams about this car, and I never dream about cars, so that says something. Usually I dream about this woman and ....well, I digress.

I checked out Ford's website and low and behold there is a Mustang the likes of which I saw back when my Dad bought a 1967 Mustang coupe, same color and everything (back then it was called Brittany Blue, now it's called Windveil blue or something) Of course I had flashbacks, the best of which is when my Dad had his engine rebuilt by a fella that built roundy-round racing engines. That little 289 was a necksnapper back then.

Anyhow, I am seriously considering this vehicle as an addition to, not in place of, my Tundra. The front looks like a '67-'68, the rear looks like the '69-'70. I don't want the base V-6 banger rental fleet junk. I would hope they carry over the current Mach 1 to this vehicle, but currently you only get base or GT, which is fine because I'm in no position to buy one now and would wait anyway for the bugs to be worked out. I really dig the looks of this Mustang, more so since they styled it to look retro, which I guess is the new thing.

Its a Ford, but this is one exception I'm willing to make. I may cool down by the time I'm in a better position to buy, but damn that 'Stang looks better everytime I stare at it. 2005 Mustang this is what I'm talking about.

hmmmm...iono, personally i'd go for restoring a vintage mustang rather than buy one of those. the back view isn't appealing at all to me...too chunky, like 30lb *** in 20lb *** limit pants. when i saw "optional 16 inch rims with spinners" i turned up my nose.

I would drive the GT model or wait for the SVT which would be my choice .

That's when you know a mod is played out, when they start offering it as a factory option. Freaking Ford had to ruin it...

I'm going to go buy that Celica with the factory body kit now...

Wow, sounds super. I looked at that picture. Don't you think they mean the spin off or "knock off" style hub caps? I'm thinking they are talking about that little 3 pointed star thing in the middle of the rim. I don't think they mean the bling bling type of spinner.

Im not big Mustang fan but the new Mustangs are real smooth looking...
I love the front end looks real vintage, but like someone mentioned if your looking for that vintage look go for 60's or 70's mustang instead.

If ford builds that bronco concept Id be impressed by that too. I wish toyota would make a Jeep-like off road fun vehicle with removable hard and/or soft tops. The FJ cruiser looks cool but Id want a convertible.

As it stands, I gotta take my Tundra in to the dealer for the second time in under 3 months. My dad's crown vic has been in once in 2.5 years and my brother's F150 only once in a year. Not everything smells like roses.

they did. you can get a restored model of the original crushers, complete with 35" tires, snorkel, gps, etc. from rocky mountain cruisers.

That Bronco concept is hot too, I read somewhere that it had a snowball's chance of getting into production though. Too bad, that thing has a small diesel in it with a nitrous kit (as I read in the May '04 issue of Car Craft) That's a nice retro ride!

I, too, love the new look for it's retro styling cues, but I'd opt for the new one instead, if I didn't want a project car. I know you're asking for some reliability issues, but current suspension technology, all the currently available creature comforts, and maybe a 400+ hp engine...mmm mmmm!

That's what I love about street rods. I'm dying to take an old Caddy/Lincoln 'vert, drop in a new crate engine and drive train, update electronics and upholstery...etc. 'Course I also want to build a custom bike and eventually a monster truck. There's too much potential fun in this world not to grab a little for myself!

That would be my guess as well. Some older hubcaps had the little protruding star-like thing that they called the spinner.
