Default Great Idea!! (Amber Alert-helping abducted children)

Just ran across this on my wifes Nissan Murano site....great idea and never heard about it till now. They really need to promote this!! It is a site and system that provides the public with essentially APB's on child abductors and asks that you phone police when you see the possible suspect....great idea since time is of the essence in cases like this....

can check out the site here

It's an all to common occurence here in CA. Out here, they post the info. on the highway signs, which is a good way to reach a lot of people in CA. Just this morning I saw one on my way to work, then heard on the radio the suspect killed the mother and abducted the 1 year old. Hope they find the S.O.B. /Mike

yes that was the case they were discussing on the Murano site (the CA child abducted by a man who killed the childs mother)....If everyone would just take a little time and question suspicious activity rather than turning a blind eye the world would be a better place....people are to ego centric and/or thin skinned...I have no problem with someone asking me why I'm somewhere or doing a certain act if they think its suspicous....if your not doing anything wrong you have nothing to worry about and have an answer that will quell suspicion...heck I'm just amazed that people don't even know their immediate neighbors anymore!!!...you don't have to be "in their business" but just watch them or watch out for them either way....the police can't be everywhere (right Johnny Law?) and another set of eyes always is a plus.

here in hawaii we also have the "k59 posse". if your car gets stolen, you call it in to K59 (radio station) and you give a live descripton of your vehicle in the hopes that someone listening will spot your ride.
unlike the mainland US, we only have about a dozen or so stations on the AM and FM, so you are stuck listining to only a few freqs, or playing CDs mp3s etc.

In Minnesota if an AMBER alert is issued they flash it on the digital signs on all the major freeways, giving a brief description of the incident, such as a vehicle plate, suspect info, and the name of the child abducted. It's had sucess here the times it's been used.

In this area, they also interrupt radio broadcasts to announce Amber alerts. They give out the description of any suspect and/or suspect vehicle they have so everyone can watch out for it. I am not sure if this is in Goergia, South Carolina or both since I live in Georgia, but the radio staion I listen to is out of South Carolina.
