Well i have a 26 inch HD LCD tv that has vga and dvi inputs along with others. The tv displays 480i, 480p, 720i, 720p, 1080i (i wish it displayed 1080p!). In the owners manual it said that the native resolution was 1366x768, which dosent make sense to me because its a 720p not a 768p?
I also have 2 old dinosaur computers that are 4-6 years old. One is a 1.2 ghz amd with 32mb video card. I dont remember the resolutions it can display. The newer one is a 1.8 ghz pentium 4 with a 128mb ati radeon 8500le card.
I going to buy a new video card that had hdtv support. I was wondering whats the difference between the regular video cards and ones that have hd output? I hooked my intel dinosaur up to my tv via vga after updating the driver and was suprised that it had wide screen resolutions! I have the choice between 1280x720, 1280x768, 1360x768 and a few other ones. My computer can adjust the picture to fit properly and so can my tv. On 1360x768, the picture is not stretched, but it dosent fit properly. I have to move the mouse towards the left or right side of the screen and the whole screen scrolls over.
I got some questions:
1)Whats the difference between the new video cards that have the hd tv out put?
2)What resolution should i run? 1280x720? 1280x768? 1360x768?
2.5) Which resolution is a 16:9 resolution? I heard some being 16:10 and some even being 15:9.
3) Will i notice a difference switching between vga and dvi?
4) Should i get a newer video card that has hdtv output or keep the stock one?
Also is there a way to make the computer boot up very quickly? Like the new hp laptops that have a quick play dvd mode. I wanted to put my computer as part of my home theater, so i can store media and surf the net chilling in my lazy boy recliner
