I'd like to see another small motorhome be made from the Tundra or Tacoma platform. The ones made on the 80's Toyota trucks were perfect for those who don't use them a lot but just want something to take to the hills without costing an arm and leg to buy or drive.

Hmmm ... Earthroamer - All-weather chassis-mount camper on a heavy-duty truck . Sorta reminds me of the millions of pickup/camper combinations I've seen over the years. Nothing new there.
Leesee ... amphibious motorhome. Let me just write out the check here ....
one million dollars - don't forget to sign it. The kids can get along without new shoes for another 6 months or so .....

Yea I fully agree, besides the fact that you lose the utility aspect of a pickup truck. I'd rather have a slide in camper or a trailer.

Can you imagine what the insurance is on one of these, not only could you wreck it you could sink it. Of coarse if you could afford to buy it i imagine that you could afford the insurance.
The pricetag itself is just bloody ridiculous. A friend of mine had a econovan based on a F-350 frame, 4x4. It was a ex-camera van so it has some beefy suspension on it. Personally Id rather buy one of those and modify it for a "camper" than pay nearly $200k for a Roamer. Theres quite a few conversions out there for the vans. Is there a advantage of having a "truck" than a van? Can you drop that camper off and hammer around with the truck? I just dont see why its worth that much.

If you look closely at the Earthroamers systems, it is completely self contained. Every system on that thing is top of the line tech. No need for RV hook ups, no RV fees, just go wherever you want and live there until you feel the need to move. Urban or outback. You could travel comfortably forever in that thing as long as you had diesel and food... It is very well engineered and worth every penny IMO.

Sitting on a Ford Super Duty you are going to need it to be fully self contained. I doubt you'd make it to the hook ups
Yeah it is nice stuff in a camper but not worth the 200K. You can have the same setup and alot cheaper if you just either A) put a camper on a super duty buy the same equipment. (Which you can do) or B) buy a decent size 4x4 van and convert it .

The van I already mentioned was the extended van (econoline I think), which had a spot for a generator. I think my friend sold it for around $4k, it was a 94-95 I think, high mileage. With a go through, rebuild the engine or drop in a new 460 (even a 351 would do great, perhaps even a diesel), repack the bearings, replace bushings etc. Install one of the camper conversion kits and you can have one heck of a machine for a fraction of $200k.
I will say that RV is pretty nice looking.. but for $200k... thats just crazy money.

Could that sucker tow a fully built Trophy Tundra? Cause I've got this lotto ticket and a few eye lashes, a rabbits foot and a penny. So... Ya shes gunna need to be able to tow my Trophy Tundra...
doods, for $200k, your still getting a pos ford truck with a bunch of aftermarket goodies. someone could easily make the same dam thing for a heck of alot less.
The quigly conversion 4x4 vans start at $30k, and you can build em up from there. You could get the same dam thing for about $60k out the door from them. Then you have sportsmobile vans too, with upgraded axles, trannies, and more upgrades that you would actually need and would enhance the reliabity offroad - lockers etc...
wow, im still stunned at the 200k price tag...........

that big lumbering donkey couldnt get over a sand dune if it tried, let alone any trail that was semi narrow, let alone any off camber situations. You might as well go buy a cruise america RV and throw a solid axle under the front and you have more room, still drive ont eh hwys, and save about $150k!
