Default The President's Ride!

Sorry. It isn't a Tundra. But I did get this shot of Air Force One today from across the field at the Naval Weapons Airfield here in Los Alamitos, CA. It's at full digital zoom as for some reason they just don't let you get very close to it. Why? Why can't you just walk right up to it? How come you can't just climb aboard and get on the intercom to the pilot and say,"Honolulu Jeeves, and step on it!"?
Actually, someone here when I was taking this pic said you couldn't even get this close when it first arrived. I'm probably a 1/2 to 3/4 mile away. Security is, of course, pretty tight.
I think it's pretty cool seeing this near my house.

I was TDY in northwest Florida doing an upgrade in a control tower. I was just off the flight line in a pickup when an SR-71
rolled out of a hangar. I almost $hit.
I wasn't sure what it was. My bosses camera was on the seat beside me, but before I could figure out how to operate the camera, the plane was gone. It looked like it went straight up when it took off.
One of the guys that worked in the tower told me what it was.

Hell of a sight.

Mike
