I've been here a few days and have regretably decided to return to my lurker status and refrain from posting. It seems that some here get a big ego boost from telling others the use the search function before they post. This just plain rude. If it's against the rules to start a topic about a subject that has been discussed before (and it could be for all I know), then maybe this should be more obviously stated so newbe's like me aren't accosted by the wannabe mods. Also, there seems to be too much name calling and people passing judgement on the percieved intend of others. Calling someone you don't know and will prolly never meet a troll because you "believe" his entent was to bash Toyota or something else you hold dear to your heart doesn't make you appear superior to them no matter how good it makes you feel.
This is a great forum with tons of great and helpful people. Too bad it has to be spoiled by a few jerks who come here to feed their ego as much as to recieve and share knowledge.
This forum has been here for awhile therefore there is a ton of great posts, knowledge, mods....you name it, its probably been covered. People on this forum aren't being rude, they are just saying do a little research before you post. Do a search on "Borla Exhaust Drone" then you'll see what I mean.
So don't take it so personally, you'll find your answer a lot quicker searching than waiting for someone to post on a topic that has been covered already.
Joey

I completely agree. Its very annoying with the same topics being posted every day. The internet is the same no matter what comp you use. Google is you friend, so is the search button.

fritz, i see your point, but portugue said it. this forum is packed with alot of good stuff. but after 2006, its really starting to get clogged with repeat threads and questions that have been "beaten to death".
as for me, if im looking for info, i wont start a thread untill ive scoured TS and google. (((thanks again TS asst admin, for the ES300 stereo pin out)))
i looked everywhere for that info including clublexus forum. i spent 3 days on it, i got it here in a day.

Suppose a new thread is started on a subject that has been hashed out countless times on this forum over the last six years. Suppose that new thread is noticed by a person who is knowledgeable about the subject and who has been helpful with it in the past.
Which of the following reactions is he more likely to have:
1) Oh, golly! Yet another opportunity to talk about < insert subject here >! I'm so excited!
2) I am tired of answering this same question over and over and over again! Why the hell can't people search for the answer before asking the question? Why do they expect other people to do their chores for them?
It's not personal, Fritz. The people who populate this forum are among the most civil and helpful you will find anywhere on the internet. But, if you expect them to do your homework for you, especially when that homework is easy, then expect to be disappointed.
And now for a funny story about it. Well, sorta funny ...
I have a good friend who has been an aerodynamicist at Boeing for the last 31 years. He writes software which numerically simulates the flight of aircraft and ordnance.
Hundreds of other people have used his software over the years, as it is what is known in the trade as "really good stuff". Unfortunately, countless times people have come to him with questions about it, which he dutifully answered. He tired of the intrusions on his time and productivity, so he wrote an extensive and comprehensive manual on using his software.
After that, equally countless times people came to him, carrying the manual in hand, with questions about it. His standard response to their questions became, "Can you read?" The answer was invariably, "Yes," His response to which was, "Then do so."
It took years, but they finally learned to read his manual instead of simply asking him to, in effect, read it to them.
Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish... You can't expect everything to be handed to you. Some topics have so much good info that it would take another year to re write it all.
As for the name calling some do you need to ignore it, you can't have such tender feelings on the net. These guys are internet tough guys and operating under the intyention that they never will have to meet the other or else they wouldn't speak like that. If you can't then go ahead and just lurk but if you have a question let us know. AFTER you try the search function.
And it is obvious that most that are called a troll are. They are here to start problems and some people feed that.

I find this site the most friendly on the net. Some of the other sites I frequent are downright brutal Give these guys a chance there are some great peeps here
As stated above seeing the same questions asked repeatedly does get old so go ahead and use the search function. If u still havent found what you are looking for then go right ahead and ask. In addition, I am on other formum and this one by faaaaaarrrrrrrr is the tamest. You go to other boards as a newbie and you just get eaten alive.

When I first started looking on this site after buying a Tundra three years ago, I posted a request and had someone tell me to use the "search" feature.
Well, that was one of the best pieces of advice. That search is quicker, easier, and more effective than posting and waiting for a reply. Most major issues have been thoroughly covered already.
If anyone thinks it is mean to tell someone to search than so be it. I have no problem sharing my limited knowledge but think people need to put in some sort of effort. I spend hours a week on here, mostly searching various topics of interest and opinions.
I've been here a few days and have regretably decided to return to my lurker status and refrain from posting. You should have done a search on "mean people" before starting this thread

I come to this site often because I find the people to be quite knowledgeable and others to be as equally ignornant and I am (and by ingnorant I mean stupid). I find it a great forum for many reasons, there's lots of info that I don't find interesting, so I move on. Other times, I find myself scouring the pages looking for topics, and when I don't find what I want I ask.
I've started a ton of threads, I've had people respond to me who are rude, I've gone toe to toe with them, and others I've simply ignored....but hey, that's just like the real world. Tundrasolutions IS the real world, there are people who are nice, mean, smart, stupid, left, right, up and down...I would no more stop accessing this website and I would stop going out the front door.
We've had our fair share of trolls, they usually get discovered and the TS support takes care of them, and we are generally on guard for those intruders. So if you are not a troll, ignore the P.I.s, and if you are...leave.

He may be at work. SOME people don't have jobs where they can sit on their butt looking on the web all day. BUT I do. ( I wish I had some work to do. I"M BORED!)
He may only get on the net every once in a while. Or he is a troll. JUST KIDDING

hey frritz, i suggested the search on something, not as a put down, but because there was a lot of good information already on post that u would be better served by looking through than by just seeing a few new posts.
i am not into put downs. my angle is getting the most benefit for the lowest cost,. to hell w/ the dikkheads, if i seemed to come off as 1 i am sorry.
