Default Echo 55,000 miles & mold...what to do?

Rcvd 2000 Echo used by my daughter-in-law driving to & from work and mileage is accurate. Just drove it home from PA to Chicago area & is a great little car...sips gas.

She had a leak due to pine needles blocking drain by windshield. Fixed & no leaks during recent rainstorms so that problem is fixed. Mechanically good. Physically good except crease in back bumper.

However is heavy mold in car. What to do? I know it can be taken care of with effort but I'm a very mechanically un-adept retired lady and I don't know where to take it. The mold is the unhealthy kind.

Any suggestions?

Look for a product called Frigi-Fresh. It's made by BG Products, Inc. Spray it in the cowling and run the A/C. It will kill the mold in your a/c vents.

If there is mold on the carpet, you'll need to replace it. Nothing will fix it.
You're probably looking at $500 or more to replace it.

If there is mold in the carpet then take it out and take it to a laudromat that has one of those big front loading circular washers that costs $4-5 per load. Wash the carpet in cold water with some laundry detergent then put the carpet in the laudromat dryer. Of course, removing the carpet will require removing the seats and seatbelts which involves considerable work. Disclaimer: the above procedure has worked for me in older Toyotas. But the newer Toyotas could be more complicated due to possible sensors or electronics inbedded in the carpeting or seats, etc.
