Default 2000 echo, warm up ok, then rough engine

symptom: drives normal for first 10 minutes until warm, then engine runs rough and acceleration is real slow.

I took it to a local mechanic, he said the intake manifold has a leak. I don't want to spend the money to fix it only to get it back with the same problem. Can anyone tell me, does that diagnosis sound right to you?? Or do you think it is something else? Any help on this would be much appreciated....thanks

PS: I cleaned the MAF, and it dint change anything
