Default 86 toyota van 2.2 overheating

got an 86 toyota van that keeps overheating on the freeway , does great in town , changed the thermostat and the radiator allready . any ideas what else it can be ? please help
going crazy

Try repacking the fan clutch, make sure the belts are properly adjusted.

Are you sure it is overheating? Is it blowing out fluid or just showing HOT on the gauge?

Test the sending unit and the gauge for proper operation.

try performing a leak test on the cooling system. you might have a tiny leak that is evaporating to fast to detect.

if you arent loosing any coolant, possible bad ignition timing.

Back years ago i was chasing a overheat problem and ended up that the hoses were sucking closed when ya really got on it hard on highway. This one baffled me for days, and while at idle the hoses would not collapse or even if ya hit linkage a bit it would just barely move. We ended up using a coat hanger and twisted it inside hose and no more overheat!!
