Question Towing question

Hello to all members of this forum. I just joined the Toyota family again (I had several in the 80's) and I think, that this time it'll be for quite a long time, and with that in mind, I'm sure I'll be posting on a regular basis.

I just purchased an 83' 2WD Longbed diesel pickup. It has the 5 speed and I'm trying to figure out how to get it home. I'd like to tow dolly it, and I want to make sure that I don't do any damage to the transmission by doing so. I think it will probably be OK to do so, but I really want to be sure. I'll be towing it about 300 miles.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice,
Walt
