Default Seat foam breakdown

I'm considering a replacement for the seat, especially the driver's side. OEM foam is $200, and that would be reusing the existing cloth - not optimum. There are a few flakes indicating the foam is breaking down.

There are salvage yards throughout the country which do have my seat (60/40 auto SR5 rare blue) but it's a risk if they are in as good or better condition; most say something like "well, do you want it or not?" when I ask more than a few questions.

Anyone swap out for US made pickup seats or those from a car? Looking to spend less than a few hundred as it has 266k miles (runs almost flawless); prolly eventually replace it with another Tundra or new Frontier in a year, so this would be to carry it 'til then.

I may settle on a small sectional sheepskin.

That may be the best option - OEM seats are about the only thing that fit a T100 floor pan without modifications.

Default Tundra Seat?

I have been thinking of putting a Tundra seat in my T-100 for more comfort on long distance driving. The width is the same as the T-100 but I am sure there will be some mods for mounting. I have owned both trucks and the difference in comfort is huge with the Tundra seat. Has anyone tried this? Jim

Default Re: Seat foam breakdown

Are you sure it is the foam? My 96 seat springs are already worn out. They are just little guitar strings that run side to side under the foam. You can see tem if you look under the seat.

If your support is okay, any auto upholstery should be able to replace the broken down cushion material for about 60 bucks.
