Default Brake pad and rotor advice - '94 Pickup

As some of you know, I own a '94 Std cab, 2WD, 22RE 5 Spd Toyota Pickup with about 159K miles on it. After repairing it from the fender bender (yuk!), it's time for a front brake job.

After doing the initial triage, I think I'm looking at new pads and new rotors. Well, I called the dealer and was quoted over $100 per rotor and $50 for the Toyota pads. This started me thinking about going aftermarket for the first time on this truck.

I was able to locate Brembo rotors and Akebono pads locally for $50 per rotor and about the same amount dollars as OEM for the Akebono pads. As a result, I'm contemplating making the swap and converting from the original setup to this setup.

So the question is: anyone got any experience with this setup on this pre-Tacoma pickup? Seems what I can gather from this board is that these manufacturers have a decent reputation here.

This vehicle is a daily driver... my priorities are getting about the same mileage as the OEM setup, minimizing the wear on the rotors, and having a feel that is like OEM. I'm not targeting braking that is much better than OEM - just want something that is comparable or even a bit better.

Any and all advice will be appreciated.

First off, let me just say... I MISS MY 94' 22RE Std Cab! There's a picture of her in my gallery.

That being said, I'm running Brembo rotors and Hawk Super Duty pads on the front of the Tundra and I like em. Brembo makes some pretty good aftermarket rotors. On my 94', I never had to change the rotors, but I did redo the pads with whatever the local Advance Auto had at the time and they usually seemed to do just fine. I don't have any experience with the Akebono pads, but you'll be happy with the Brembo's.
