Default noobie saying hi & needs help

hello all. i'm glad i found this place. it will take me a week to go through all the threads i wanna read.

i have a '93 t100

about 3 weeks ago i was driving down the road & it just died.
i pulled over & it started right back up, ran about 5 minutes & died again.
i towed it to my macanhnic while i was there it started right back up.
he siad his best guess was ignitor & it would be about 400 bucks to fix so drive it untill it quit again. well...
today was the day.
my question is this, how hard is this to replace? i'm not a total moron but i'm not a macanhic either. any help would be great.
thanks in advance

Have your mechanic pull a code and lets see if he is on the right track.
The igniter is on the drivers fenderwell under the hood. Its a small 3x2 silver looking box with a black wire connector sticking out of it. They have been known to fail =yes.
A code from the ECU would put you on a better track for a diagnosis, rather than just a guess.
Chilton/Mitchell manuals tell you how to access the ecu codes with a JUMPER WIRE.
Hope this helps

yea, i figured i'd do that first but i was wondering if this was a simple swap. auto zone has one in stock for less than $150 bucks & he told me 4 bills to do this so.... i was wonderin if i was gettin screwed or what.

plus after a little research it's doing all the signs of an ignitor. i just went after it & it stared right up. (after sitting for a couple hours) but on the way home it died several times but all i had to do was drop it into N cost & then back to drive & it started back up i only had to pull over 1 time & start it.

it's at home now & i'll let ya know what happens. any other help would be appriciated.

Replacing an important part like an ignitor with a piece of crap from Odd-Ozone is just asking to introduce more problems than you are fixing.BUYING QUALITY IS NOT GETTING RIPPED OFF. BUYING CRAP IS!

OEM ALL THE WAY!!!
Garbage in = Garbage out
It's only $150 for a reason You'll be sorry
PART # 89621-12050 = APPROX $375
The first one(igniter) made it 12 years.
Talk to TS MEMBER ---->TDRSOURCE, he might be able to get you a better price. He is a parts manager of a TOYOTA DEALERSHIP and does TS members great deals.
