Default Alloy Rims

Does anyone know for sure if the newer style Tacoma alloy rims (picture attached below) will fit my '95 T-100 4x4? From the picture you can see that the optional open center caps can be purchased for the front hubs with manual lockouts. But mine does not have manual lockouts but the front hubs still stick out far enough that my guess is that the standard center caps will probably not work. Anyone aware of deeper centercaps that can be used on the front? (or maybe I'm making something out of nothing and the std center caps that come with the rims will work ok?)

Thxs.

Hey THarms,

The wheels in your attached photo, can be purchased with the solid caps for the front wheels as well. My '95.5 Tacoma has them, as I too... don't have the manual hubs.

That said... I'd say they will fit on a '95 T-100. I know that nearly every 16" wheel made by Toyota is interchangeable, so I'm basing my answer on that, thinking Toyota wouldn't do anything any different regarding the 15" wheels. Although... I could stand corrected on that. Also, since the 15" wheels... like the ones in your photos... were primarily the ONLY alloy wheels available in 1995, it kinda' stands to reason, that they would work on the same year model, even though it's for 2 different trucks.

However, truth be told though... I HATE these wheels... with a passion! Mine [literally] look like hell! IMPO, these early 15" alloy wheels just DO NOT hold up well at all. And the center caps are... EVEN WORSE... just pure JUNK!!! The "paint"... if one can even call it that... on these caps, holds up worse than the actual wheels do! Depending on "when" and "where" the caps were made, they could be molded from either a "cream" color or "dark gray" plastic, as I've had both! And once the paint begins to peel off, I'm sure you can picture in your mind, what that would look like, right in the center of an alloy wheel! It literally just kinda' draws the eye right to the center on the wheel! Not to mention the fact that brake dust... from the front wheels... will actually DISCOLOR the lighter "cream" color plastic and make it look even worse!! I've tried repainting the center caps, with VERY little success in the long term. They're just not worth the trouble, IMPO.

That said... I'm not sure "why" you're even entertaining the idea of using these wheels on your T-100... unless of course... you're getting them for "FREE". In any case, I finally made the decision... that the ONLY way, I was going to get something that "looked" half way decent on my Tacoma, was to just replace those stock alloys. And that's just what I did... this past Christmas. You can honestly get a set of "brand new" aftermarket alloys, cheaper than you can find 1 "good" set of take-off 15" Toyota wheels, like the ones you're asking about. The "KEY" word here being... GOOD... as there are plenty of these early Toyota alloys on ebay, but I can GUARRANTEE... you'll never know what you're getting, until they're on your doorstep. That to me... is way to big of a gamble to take on something that "isn't" gonna' hold up all that well anyway!! A really good set of these wheels, is VERY few and far between. Even worse... you're definately gonna' pay for 'em too! If you do entertain the idea of going aftermarket... I bought a set of THESE for under $400, which included shipping off ebay. Just a thought...

Hope this helps...

I have those same wheels in the 15" version, off of a 2wd Tacoma or 4runner; they do fit my T100 but mine is a '95 2wd.

They did come in a 16" version, though I beleive those are for 4wd Tacos.

And they do look good, better than the stock hubcaps.

See if you wait for some available locally, and then go try one on. That's what I did. Saves on shipping too.

Didn't they have the 16" version's for the 4runners and TAcoma's from '01 on? I know the 95.5-00 Tacoma's got the 15" alloys.

I haven't seen the issues' as described above with paint/the centercaps, etc. I see ton's of Tacoma's & 4runners around town plus I have a family member who works at a dealership and I notice the rims because well, I'm a Toyota guy, and I've never seen issues as described. Mind you maybe it may have something to do with the climiate I live in here on the Pacific Coast.
