Yes, it is the same as a Tacoma, just an out of states name.
nope only thing the Hilux and US Tacoma share is the interior and engine. The Hilux is based on the same frame as the older non-tacoma's. http://www.brian894x4.com/Hiluxgeneration4.html
Best bet would try and find an older non-tacoma's slidding glass window. Such as a '89-'94 truck.
No, the Hilux is not sold in the US and very few parts are in common with any US model -- certainly not the Tundra. Hilux is a lighter duty pickup closer in concept and size to Tacomas - but still differing greatly. Hilux is sold in many countries such as Australia where Hilux accessories are decently priced (not cheap, I say, but decent compared to higher-taxed countries). I have used Hilux models for work in Costa Rica, Chile, and Argentina and I don't remember Tacoma foo-foo stuff on those (like keyless entry, ABS, daylight running lights, or even airbags). Remember that many Toyota models have unique "local national content" including but not limited to US-manufactured pickups, but also some Hilux production/assembly was done in Argentina, and possibly in other countries.
Here is a good idea for all you people out there that wanna see a Hilux. Look at my display picture that is my Hilux, I have put a new suspension kit on it with a air pressure system that lets you control the ¨Hardness & softness¨ of the ride....! I like to pimp cars, I have 20¨ Rims, and 3 Basses behind the back seat!... I live in Panama City, Panama ¨ Central America¨.......... Most Toyota Hilux´s that are being sent to south and central America are Made in Brasil!....... because labor is cheaper there then it is in china or japan or whatever...! This is the best truck i have ever owned... I was a previous owner of a 2002 Hilux 2.8 D liter... which was the most peace of crap pick up that existed.... Now Toyota has cleaned there act up after many years of having the old model shape and Engine....! the new one comes with a 3.0 liter turbo desiel intercooler 180 Horsepower nad locking differentals!..... The suspension is the same suspension as of the 4Runner, which gives this Truck more smoothness and a better ride..!!! All i have to say to you state side people sucks for you, you cant have a little 3.0 turbo diesel intercooler engine and the body shape of the south and central america tacoma Known as the Hilux! You guys have no idea what your missing in this amazing new improved little 4 cyclinder Diesel!...... But there is one thing that is wierd, They missed calculated the size of the stock rims and the tires............................! IT IS RECOMMENED! that you stick more tire on the ground for more track´chin! and more stability........... Any questions about the new 2006 Hilux send me a Quote or a Reply thanks
Man, I drove a ton of Hilux's when I lived in the Canal Zone. They rode like crap when they were empty, but handled a lot of weight really well. I remember seeing some of them loaded with 10-15 "grass ninjas" in the back as they would drive around the "zone"
