Default Transmission Cooler

I want to install a transmission cooler on my 1998 t100. One kit said that it is an "in line" system just connect to the fluid lines. I thought the stock automatic transmission was a sealed unit. The manual kind of hinted that there were other lines but it didn' say exactly. I don't see anything on the truck. Do these trucks have lines leading to something external that a cooler could be put in line with?
Thanks for any help
