T-100 Alternator check

My sons T-100 battery was dead this morning. The battery is not but a couple of years old, a Diehard. Can I check the alternator by jumping the truck off then unhooking the battery, if the truck goes dead, the alternator is bad?

You should have the battery checked first... just because its only 2 years old doesn't mean it is still good. Check the easy things first, then work your way to the more difficult.
