Default 1989 22re heater woes

Hello all! I have a problem with a snapped cable on the adjusting lever to switch from cool to heat. How can I manually switch to heat so we dont freeze. Its getting pretty cold around here!

Look underhood and you will find the heater control valve on the firewall about midway from drivers side, you should be able to open the valve there. You will see it in the heater hose inlet.

Thanks for the reply! I went out last night and found the heater control valve. It was on the firewall between the heater hose. I manually pushed the lever attached to the cable towards the firewall, with some resistance, and still no heat. Tried the lever in both positions but it doesn`t work. Should I replace the valve or try something else 1st?
