Default First Post - 1995 T100

I have a 95 T100 4wd, 3.4 V6, that is missing when going up-hill. It has 234,000 miles but I have just replaced plugs, plug wires, and fuel filter. Also put STP and Chevron Tectronic injector cleaner in it, and cleaned the MAF, to no avail. I have ordered MG44K fuel injector cleaner but it has not arrived yet.

The truck seems to run smooth when starting out cold but, well after the temp comes up, will get rougher and rougher the longer I drive.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I should try next?

Thanks, Tom Allen

I put this post in the Tundra section by mistake. I'll try here.

CPS - camshaft positioning sensor...when these are bad and they heat up, they tend to act up.

Thanks for the response; and help. Where is this sensor located, and how can I check it? Are they expensive to replace?

Thanks again, Tom Allen

I had this problem as well and I replaced everything like you did and it kept on doing it. Because the 3.4L has no distributor, it turned out that one of the ignitors had died causing it to not fire one of the spark plugs. Replaced it and it runs fine. The dealership's computer didn't even catch this.

Thanks for the suggestions.

After trying new fuel filter, plugs, and plug wires, I took advice I was given here and replaced one of the coils (cost $95.00 at dealership). I tried it at all 3 positions and, at the last position, it solved my skipping problem.

235,000 miles and the truck runs great. I'm now checking the gas milage to see if the new parts help there and, hopefully, pay for themselves.

My wife and I each have Lexus 430's and I havent put 1,000 miles on mine since I got this 95 T100 4wd last May. I'm thinking about getting a 03 or so Tundra and driving it until the 07 Tundra's have all bugs out, but I hunt, and drive a lot in the woods, and don't mind getting scratches on the T100.

Thanks to all, Tom

Glad to here it worked out for you! When I heard you describe the symptoms your truck was presenting, it sounded awfully similar to what I had to deal with.

I personally wouldn't recommened injector cleaner unless you use Lucus Fuel Conditioner, I have seen that injector clean mess up a couple of my buddies cars, but Lucus has always done every thing it said it would without screwing anything up. Just a suggestion from previous experience. I'm definatly impressed by how many miles these T-100's get, mine just turned 63,000 miles and hope to get many more out of it.
