This is a discussion thread titled "1997 Toyota T-100 won't start - just clicks", within the Out-of-Production Trucks & SUVs forum, part of the SUV Forums category.
Hey all I recently bought a 1997 T-100 SR5 and have loved everything about it. From time to time, when I turn the key it just clicks, won't turn over. Normally after 3 or 4 clicks it will start. This morning it won't start at all so I figure I have to adress the problem now. From what I've read it sounds like the starter. I need to buy repair manual, like a chilton and pick up a starter from Napa or something. Anyone have any suggestions or helpful comments? Thanks.
Bruski - Did you ever get this fixed? I'm now having a similar issue on my '95 T100. I've installed a new battery and cleaned all the electrical connections/terminals on both the battery and the starter itself . Starter solenoid clicks every time the key is turned, but the starter motor does not run every time... after about half a dozen or so turns of the key, it usually will start cranking. It hasn't left me stranded yet, but is getting to the point where its making me nervous.
