I agree. So long as we have a dyno that neither company has direct contact with, and have it reported by an unbiased third party, the results will speak for themselves, instead of having company reps hock their products to us.

Disclaimer: I know either company has the right to hock their products to whoever they want, Im simply stating they are of course biast towards their own product.

I agree 07. Hopefully we can get some unbiased results. I think both companies have great track records but I have been holding my breath on this for a while now.

We are definately interested in something like that if you have any suggestions. We are not here to bash anyone as JBA does make a nice product also. We are just proud of our designs and power gains. Competition is what leads manufacturers to create bigger and better things. Now we just need some competition to push us even further.
I went with the JBA Headers... after you guys told me that I would be the 3rd party truck I waited and waited with no response. When I first started my quest for new headers I read all the posts and was pretty encouraged but then you guys stopped responding. I hope that you guys can work it out with someone else from this site so we can put this thing to bed soon.

That being said JBA couldn't or wouldn't give me the same deal you promised but they are much closer to me and delivered the goods in a timely fashion.

If anybody is considering headers right now I would highly recommend Dustin @ JBA Corporate he also runs their speed shop. He was super knowledgeable about the product and we will know within a couple weeks if their dyno numbers are accurate.

Im dissappointed that DT strung you on and didnt follow through on their previous statements. Im anxiously awaiting your JBA results.

Yeah I am excited for the JBA results as well.
I could have been a little hard on DT but I am the kind of person who once something gets in my mind i have to go on it right now.

Chris,
DT did not bail on you. We are (were) working on putting something together for you. I am glad that you are happy with JBA's. It was hard for me to convince the powers that be to do a free 6 hr install . Sorry it took some time for me to get back to you.

Thanks
Nick

No worries Nick I got a really good Vibe from you but when Lsk or whatever his username came out of the woodworks acting like he had no idea with what we had going on and then didnt respond to my private message, I got the feeling that they were not going to step up. I do not have ill feelings
I hope you guys can put the deal together with someone else on this board so we can get some unbiased results.

So I put about 100 miles on the truck since the install. I was on my way home tonight and for the first time I got on it from a stop light. I was super impressed the truck pulled really hard from about 3800 RPM'S all the way to redline. I had it on manual shift mode and the truck broke em loose a little bit going into 2nd gear. Thats the first time its done that.

I am looking to add headers and cat back to my 2001 Tundra. I had done the same thing to a 1997 Accura 2.2cl coupe a few years back and used Bosal products. The exhaust tip would slam into the body every time I hit any kind of bump. It was good equipment, but the fit was horrible. Can you guys recommend a header/catback combo for my 01 Tundra. (dual would be nice...)

I am liking this discussion on JBA and Thorley. for a newbie it seems great to me that there is this type of open discussion I can read before I pony up the $$$.

Just an update on my JBA Cat4ward headers:

I have had the headers on for over 2000 miles and am happy to report that they are working flawlessly. No CEL's, no leaks, and I've had them re-torqued twice - both times the bolts were still tight to torque specs.

Everytime I get on it I'm still suprised how well the engine responds to these headers on the top end. It really pulls hard to red-line.

With the news of the S/C ready to release I'm happy I upgraded to these.

Are you going to try and get a bit more out of it with the URD contraption like you did with the 4Runner?

As far as I'm concerned the dt's only make real power before 3500rpm not throughout the power band. Let's be honest when you put you foot to the floor with the 5.7 the 6spd and 4.30 gears mine downshifts goes directly to 3k rpm and above so the only usable part of that dyno is 500 rpm. They hardly has any gains at all on the top end. Remember I know it's a truck engine but it's also a cammer which means even with vvti it's going to have a power band thats shifted slightly up over a two valve engine or even a sohc three valve. Why wouldn't you choose products that improve on this rather than trying to change it. Also in response to the people who say look how much bottom end the dt's gain and this is true, however notice that the dyno was done using full throttle on the truck how much low end would you gain at part or even half throttle? Any more and you would down shift and be at 3k rpm and above putting the dt's nearly out of their usable range. I would however like to see a 3rd party dyno on each thats the only way we'll get real answers. I also do not like that for the hundreds of dollars that you have to spend to get the dt's their not even stainless. When dt said that 409 stainless was hardly superior to aluminized steel they would be mistaken it actually deals with the extreme thermal ranges in an exhaust system better than 304ss. It definitely does not polish up as good as 304 and it doesn't look as pretty but it will hold up for an exhaust part much longer than standard aluminized steel whether it be ceramic coated or not and for the price of the dt's you would think they wouldn't skimp.
