Have over 200 miles on sense install of long tubes and still no CEL. Buy the way I do beleave the computer has learned the new exhaust flow and beleave me you notice a diffrence. My milage was at 16.+/- a couple of tenths. I have unhooked the battery so I m starting out my average mpg again so I will keep you informed on how it does. Thats 80% freeway and the rest, stop and go. Free way speeds of 75-85mph and 45-55 on side streets. I don't know how the shorty headers are but the long tubes kick butt!

Oh, and the gas milage is starting to go up. Still not were it was at befor the headers though. 15.5 when I used to be at 16. I guess that i have been a little harder on the gas though. I will be going to the track this weekend. So i will get you guys some numbers. With the cai and magna flows alone, my best was 14.9 at 93mph. that was a warm 89 degrees out with high humidity. it should be in the mid 70's this weekend with lower humidity and long tube headers and i guess you can call it a mod, but precat delete also.

ok guys, went to the track last night with the headers on of course. i t was the same temp out according to the truck, which was 86 degrees. I only got 2 runs in because it was so packed and I had my wife with me and she was not feeling well (baby baking was kicking her butt) Im happy to report though that Taking it easy out of the hole babing the truck so no wheel spin and I went from a 14.9@92.955 with out long tubes, to running a 14.5@94.601. I could have gottin better but did not have enough runs in to to see were i could launch at not like the first time i ran with out the headers. I had like 16 runs in without the headers. I would say that if I could of put alittle more gas out of the hole, i would see a tenth or two improvement over 14.5 being more like 14.4 or 14.3 being more like it. Leaving the burn out box though, I noticed that it was spinning like crazy, so I came off the line maybe half throttle. I did not run any faster so im going to go with the 14.5 being my best but I know for a fact that I could of run faster if I had some time to get the launch down. I would say that the rcsb would for sure be running in the 13s alday long with these headers. I will not be going to the track again untell it gets down in to those winter temps and would be pretty sure that win its more like 30degrees out and not 86, I might and probably will see 13s. Buy the way this is the 5.7 double cab.

I know, I know, my welding sucks but they dont leak and I don't have a pipe bender, so I did with the pipe that I had. I will order some pipe from magnaflow that is stainless steel with some high flow cats and make them look better. I have 1000 miles sence the headers went on and still no CEL. I'm also getting 17mpg rather then 16 now.

Ceramic coatings are different. A lot of companies use cheap crap for their ceramic coating. If you quit buying cheap headers, this wouldn't happen.

We have been selling Doug Thorley's for years now (among other headers) and using them for years and have NEVER had a set rust through the ceramic, NEVER. And if by some fluke chance, they do, they are warrantied for life. We have had complaints with other companies like Hedman and Hooker. I do not have any personal experience with JBA but I can say I have sold more than a handful of DT headers to customers getting rid of their JBA's.

Plus you can't go wrong with a 100% USA made product...

I know that this isn't a really fair comparison, but it does involve JBA headers. I had edelbrock tri-y headers on my 97 s/c v6 tacoma and they made better/more power than the non tri-y jbas I put on about 5 years later. I did the swap as the edelbrocks were having some collector issues. The jbas looked to be made better and of a higher quality, but the power was not there compared to the edelbrocks.

I'm going to be getting some DT longtubes with custom unichip dyno tuning for the tundra very soon.

Was wondering if putting the cat right above a support is this a bad idea in any way? I am glad to see someone has moved the O2 sensor placement.

Never noticed that the O2 sensor wires are different lengths. Thinking about mounting the O2 location behind the factory 2nd cat. Is there a longer O2 sensor wires aviable? If not may end up splicing in some new wire to lengthen it. Am open to ideas if anyone has them.

I glad I got on here before I purchased my headers...still kind of undecided bt the JBA and the DTs. DTs have a great deal going on bjoffroad website right now and considering I will have my SC installed shortly thereafter, the performance of the header needs to be able to handle the SC. Given that, any thoughts out there on the header to get. Additionally, I here that with 5.7L Tundra 09, installing a cat back exhaust is a waste of cash due to the SC. From what two off-road shops told me and a rep. header/muffler shop, I am better off installing a 3 inch tail pipe of the factory exhaust due to the great set up that toyota already put on the vehicle. I am a rookie in this arena and any assistance would help before I starting laying the cash down.

I would be more than happy to participate in this. I am thinking about buying a st of JBA headers and noe that I cam accross Thorley i would like to see what the have to offer. I spent $400 in a K$N CAI filter and $800 on a TRD cat back to notice almost no change at all. The truck just sounded more like a truck and I could live with that. I did see the Thorley's were about $200 more than the JBA's and I am def not making that mistake again. I want to know who is better....

REGARDING THE 4.7's.... and, I know most of you have the "Big Boy" Truck with the 5.7... but, I got my 2007 DC 4.7L at a great price, and go figure, I want it to be faster too, so... it is what it is!

Anyhooo.... Nick at Thorley sent me a pic & a Dyno (theirs) for their shorty's for my 4.7 (just in case any 4.7'ers were following this thread). I'm trying to attach them to this post, so hopefully you can all see it.

It looks like a pretty solid gain all the way through the power band. I don't see the "loss" from the other dyno for the 5.7.

One NOTE though... in the remarks at the top of the dyno, it looks like the "stock" run was with a catback, and the 2nd run was with Headers & catback.

So.............. Has anyone else with the 4.7 installed any Headers, or other mods, that they would like to share their results?

Also, if any of you know of other Headers for my 4.7, please let me know so I can compare - I'm still a few months away from purchasing.

Oh, 1 more thing..... Jet Chips has an upgraded MAF sensor, that they say increases air-flow by something like 35 or 45%. Has anyone had any experience with this, and if so, is their any ACTUAL benefit to an aftermarket MAF?

Thanks all........ you can go back to your 5.7 talk now!
