Default Exhaust Manifold/Header to Head Studs - FYI for future searchers

Hey all,

As some of you know I am doing a header install on my 01 Tundra. My dealer wants 82 bucks for new studs and nuts, and they cant have them in until "maybe Wednesday". I started doing some searching, and was thinking about ordering some studs from McMaster Carr. Since I could get em for half of that have they would be to my door by Wednesday.
However, I spec them out to M10, with a 1.25mm pitch. That is an extremely oddball non-standard size. Every M10 is a 1.5mm pitch. I dont even have a M10 1.25 in my set only M10 1.5, and there is no M10 1.25 available from McMaster, only M10 1.5. I took my pitch finder from my tap & die set, and it IS 1.25mm. 1.5mm is too big. My caliper shows the width of the stud at 9.91mm, so it has to be an M10.

Having said that, even from McMaster these are over 8 bucks a piece, since they are a "special thread" stud. You are pretty much forced to order these things from the dealer. Hopefully I saved someone else some time searching around trying to find a better way!

I know you don't have the JBA's, but the JBA's come with metric bolts that replace the studs/nuts. Most people don't bother replacing the studs. But if you want a cheap way out, since you already have the studs off, you could just switch to metric bolts and lock washers and skip the studs/nuts.

yeah, the SSA's came with those too. I am not going to put a bolt into my aluminum cyl head... studs are infinitely better
