Performance Exhaust SystemsDetailed discussions regarding performance headers, single, dual, street and off-hard racing exhaust systems for your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "What Does Exhaust Drone Sound Like?", within the Performance Exhaust Systems forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Sorry, but I'm a realist. I know that NO exhaust is perfect. The stock one is quiet, but leaves HP and TQ on the table. The aftermarket one maximizes your power, but may result in drone at certain RPMs. I'm willing to live with the drone, but I'm also going to SHARE that discovery with others who may not want to suffer it.
That's what this forum is for...SHARING EXPERIENCES so others may benefit from your knowledge, and not just conjecture...
I made my choice, you made yours, and others will make theirs
If you want to prevent drone, there is a real easy fix:
Don't mess with your exhaust!
I'm sorry, but you people crack me up. You spend all this money on a really nice truck with an amazingly sturdy, quiet, well engineered exhaust, then you modify it and then complain about it.
How many threads do we read over and over about people messing with their exhaust, getting nothing from it other than noise, then complaining about the noise. What do you get from the modification? 1/2 a horse power? 10 Horse power? 20? Is it worth it?
Personally, I love how quiet my truck is. I like that there is no wind noise, no engine noise, no tire noise. It is really nice to be able to listen to my music at a low level and hear every note. When I am on the phone, using my headset, I do not have to yell or have someone yell so I can hear them.
If you want to mess up a perfectly good exhaust, don't come here complaining about it when you are not happy.
ACTUALLY...I have wind noise from my Tundra D/C and that is bothersome. My exhaust note is Beautiful and I have dual Flowmaster Delta 40s.
One would think by now that one would realize that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Yeah they bitch about things but this is a form of communication that invites discussion. Dont rain on the parade.
