Performance Exhaust SystemsDetailed discussions regarding performance headers, single, dual, street and off-hard racing exhaust systems for your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Will This Exhaust Work??", within the Performance Exhaust Systems forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I Have a 2000 Tundra 2wd 4.8L V8. What my plan is to do is to take off the stock muffler at the clamp, then add a flowmaster super 44 muffler to it (2.50" single in 2.50" single out) then put a turn-down immediatly after. I will keep the resonator and the cats and all the stock piping before the muffler. Will this affect my performance anyway or mpg? How do you think it will sound??
Sometimes those sorts of exhaust systems drone because the area under the bed acts like a resonant cavity. Also the turn downs can blow up lots of dust. Just give it a try and consider adding a tailpipe if you see or hear anything you don't like.

Don't have the means for sound clips. But I can describe it as nice low rumble at idle real throaty when gunning it it drones a bit in stop and go but once you set the cruise the sound almost disapears and becomes stock. It definitely turns heads when I get on it.
I would suggest dumping it after the rear end because the heat form the exhaust can help add additional heat to the rear end and shocks making them wear out faster (Or the oil in them). Could be minimal but just something to think about.
