Question 4.7L with TRD exhaust

Anyone with new-gen or old gen 4.7L Tundras have the TRD dual exhaust installed on their trucks? How is it and do you like it? I will be getting it installed on my 07 4.7L in the next month and want to know what you think!

my previous '03 Tundra T3 and '06 DW Edition Tundra had TRD Duals and it was awesome...just a perfect sound not too loud and quiet on highway speeds..this time I went with single Corsa Exhaust with 4" Dual tips on my '08 Tundra for top end performance...I lost a lot of top end on my previous Tundras except for my '06 Tundra I had TRD Supercharger...go with TRD Duals they are great!!!

What do you mean when you say you lost a lot of top end on your 4.7L Tundra? Will this happen to me when I have the TRD dual exhaust installed on my 2007 4.7L? Thanks!

I meant lossing low end torque power with dual exhaust...get you some JBA headers to help that low end torque loss...I did that on my '03 and it helped out..

my truck came with the the trd dual exhaust 2005 4.7, its quiet, quieter than a factory american truck, very quiet idle, it might get a little louder as you rev it up, but really nothing to mention, no drone, the biggest advantage over stock is the dual exhaust look, I WOULD NOT BUY THIS EXHAUST, but if your truck comes with it i probably wouldn't buy another exhaust unless you want more rumble, you do get like 5hp or something over stock, so if you want more power, a clean dual exhaust look, and very very minimal sound increase, you cant get a better exhaust.......
I really liked the look of the TRD dual exhaust, more so than any aftermarket company, and i wanted to keep the added power of the exhaust, but i want more sound, so i went to a quality muffler shop, had the res and the muffler cut out and replaced with the flowmaster 40, i kept the TRD size piping, in my opinion perfect, GREAT SOUND, little to no drone on the highway, deep rumble at idle, no loss in hp or low end torque, looks like a TRD DUAL EXHAUST but sounds like a beast

Hey everyone, im new to the forum.
I just installed the TRD dual exit cat-back exhaust on my '00 4.7l and i like it. Its not too loud but you know its not stock. Now im looking to open it up a little bit more for added sound and power. Any suggestions?
Ive been lookin at JBA headers but need help on mid pipes and catalytic converters...
Thanks

You probably have an extra resonator in front of the muffler in the case of TRD exhaust. You might try popping out that resonator if you want it a bit louder.

indeed... I plan on doing the same... I currently have the TuRD Dual Exhaust on my DW Edition and I'll delete that first resonator with straight pipe for a more beefy sound.

i just got the TRD Dual. I reasearched it here first. Awesome look. Enough rumble to make you feel good, but not enough if you want to be an A Hole or try to sound like your going to the fairgrounds.

Smile Re: 4.7L with TRD exhaust

Check out this custom made "true" cat back system on my 05 tundra 4.7
it uses a Flowmaster series 50 SUV muffler with custom made/bent tubes from the cats to the "Y" pipe. The "Y" pipe is a magnaflow 2.5 inch dual inlet to a 3 inch single outlet into the muffler, but retains the stock tailpipe so there is some backpressure. whole deal is about $250 installed.
I say "true" cat back system because all most all production aftermarket systems are "resonator" back systems, that is, they retain the stock resonator and "Y" pipe.

If I remember the old muffler tricks. If you want more sound, you remove the last muffler (resonator). The further back from the engine, the more the muffler muffles. resonators are just secondary mufflers.
