Performance Exhaust SystemsDetailed discussions regarding performance headers, single, dual, street and off-hard racing exhaust systems for your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Which exhaust system?", within the Performance Exhaust Systems forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I want to get an exhaust put on a 4.7L tundra very soon and I cant decide what I want. I want something that idle's pretty loud and its pretty throaty. I was thinking about getting true dual 12" glasspacks but Idk about that one, does anyone have any suggestions or sound clips? Also when you let me know, tell me the whole system like true dual to x pipe or h pipe, all details

Well i drew a little picture to clear all things up. Is this drawing right or am I missing anything? I want to get 2" pipe all the way with 3" tips at a 45 degree at the end or straight out the back..not sure yet. Does anyone have pictures of exhaust tips with these 2 choices? I cant really decide on muffler yet but i want something that rumbles and sounds like an old muscle car...i was thinking either dual IMCO extreme mufflers, flow super 44's or like 12" glasspacks...please help if either the x pipe or h pipe is better than the other...please help me decide so i dont waste my money on something that will sound like crap

The only thing that rumbles and sounds like a muscle car is...ta-da...a muscle car. If you search threads under exhaust, which I did before going with Magnaflow, you will find a wealth of information and opinions on various setups, with pros and cons very well discussed.
But don't be disappointed if your 4.7L Tundra doesn't end up sounding like a SS396, cause it won't. That engine can haul ***, but your truck can haul a lot more than that!
Good luck in whatever you decide.
