Default Last set of cats are gone!!!!

Today i just decided to cut all of it off. I cut right behind the last o2 sensor. Started the truck and no check engine light the truck sounds like my camaro. Gutted the last set of cats and going to weld them back on tomorrow and hope the hooker muffler sounds better. This truck rocks and throttle response seems a little better as well. Now we just need some cams to get the most out of this truck.

Ive gutted cats out before it makes them sound like a old F100 sometimes.Much better idea is to get a muffler shop to weld in small pieces of piping to connect what you removed.

I've also ran gutted cats before and they sound like crap. I needed cats, so I did it, I would never do it to my brand new truck. Each his own.

I'm not a fan of gutting cats but has anyone tried a high flow cat?

If you cut behind the last O2 sensor, you didn't remove any cats...

It's great to hear you all polluting the environment.

How are you getting around emissions?

It is illegal to remove factory installed cats here. I have considered a different approach...with four cats we might be able to get away with removing the muffler, installing an x-pipe in its place, running some dual exhaust pipes and there is a good chance of still meeting the noise limits while being fully legal.

I wonder if anyone has removed the muffler and tested the noise levels?

It's illegal to remove cats in any state. It's a violation of Federal Law (The 1990 Clean Air Act). Anyone can report a violation of this law to the EPA or the local DMV. The fine, last time I checked, was about $2500.00. I guess it depends on the emmisions testing of your state whether you get caught or not. True, California has no smog requirements if your vehicle is six years old or newer. Still, those things are on there for a reason. I am not a tree hugger, and I don't necessarily buy all the global warming hype, but I certainly am not going to make the environment worse, just because it might sound cool. (Which it usually doesn't)

It's time we all grow up..........

Just look at the nannies bleed Congrats on the Stepping Out !!
The secondary Cat remove has no cause or effect to emissions testing.
That has already been proven locally
My cats were removed today and we ran the "tailpipe probe into the flanged 24" pipe exstitions(where the #2 cats used to be and to clear the crossmember) no a wimper from the ECO METER(tree huggers beware WE'RE LEGAL IN TEXAS!!) No viable way to post "PROOF" as it could be argued,so your just gonna have to do it your self if you want PROOF !

Pretty simple ,just blow a hole in the pipe between the 02 Sensor and the Secondary Cat,stuff the talpipe probe in the hole and hit the GO button on the Test Scanner.
Mufflers are on the way, cant wait to get it all put back together.

So basically what you are saying is that the secondary cats don't do much other than muffle the sound? And what do you mean you ran the tailpipe probe on yours? You actually tested for emissions without the secondary cats and it still passed?
