New exhaust arrived...should I wait after engine break-in period?
So my Flowmaster 50 Series came in yesterday. Should I wait until the break-in period or can I just slap it on this weekend?
(I have 600 miles on her, break-in period is 1000 miles according to the owner manual)

If you have it, you'll use it. I vote for after because unless you have the restraint of a 90 year old lady, then I dunno how you'll able to break in your truck "slow" lol.

yep...i didn't know either until i opened up the manual when all these pretty little lights were flashing on my console. (i had a defective radiator...coolant leaked all over my engine. toyota replaced the radiator under warranty.)
manual said something like:
- don't drive on same speed for more than 10 minutes (for first 1000 miles)
- don't do hard brake (for first 400 miles...i think)
- there were a few more, but can't remember

Re: New exhaust arrived...should I wait after engine break-in period?
Most new cars have a break in recommendation from the manufacturer. This usually includes not towing for the first 500 miles and not using cruise control in order to vary your RPM's...... I'm not sure what the manual says, exactly..... but you should always read your manual.....

Re: New exhaust arrived...should I wait after engine break-in period?
Some believe the harder you drive it in the break in period the better it is.
I on the other hand baby mine for about 1000 then run it hard.
I know I would not be able to keep my foot off the throttle for the sound. So if you install it I would blast the stereo till 1000 miles, so I wouldn't hear the exhaust...lol... Then enjoy the sound.

Just enjoy the MPG for now, once you hear that rumble then your right foot will be glued to the throttle. no breaking period needed. ENJOY.

Re: New exhaust arrived...should I wait after engine break-in period?
bah, 600 miles is plenty to break it in. ive built several engines and break em in for 2-300 miles. none have burned oil or had any issues after several years of HARD driving.
Re: New exhaust arrived...should I wait after engine break-in period?
aaaaight...i'm at 925 miles. i'm installing it! wildbill, ur exit pipes are turned down before the axle right? how u liking ur setup so far? you think it'll have less chances of drone if i have it go over the axle and turn it down right after?
