This is a discussion thread titled "High flow cats?", within the Performance Exhaust Systems forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I decided I want to do high flow cats instead of just deleting the secondary cats and replacing with pipes...I know Magnaflow has some good high flow cats and was just wondering which other companies make them and which ones I should go with for a nice increase in sound while still having it sound good...not raspy or droney?? Thanks

Not really looked into but my first place would be Random Tech to see if they have anything. Just a stab in the dark.

Technically your not allowed to replace the stock cats with other ones if they're still working properly and the truck has under 80k miles on it. Just pull off the secondary ones and flange the pipe on the one longer side that doesn't have a flange yet. That way you can put the cats back on if you're unhappy with the results. I wouldn't waste my time with high flow cats. Unless you're able to tune the truck for them, you won't notice a difference. Getting rid of the small restrictive pipe outlets on the secondary cats will make a far bigger difference. When I get my longtubes put together, I will be getting rid of the secondary cats to make room for larger primary cats.

C'mon I know some people on here have info on this!
Random Technology has a Round Metal Matix 7000 series high-flow cat that will wake up some of the sound. Make sure you get the pipe correct size piping.
Usually the O2 sensors go into the pipe before or after the cats, not actually into the cats so changing them is a non-issue.
I have a pair of new un-installed 3" high flow cats that I would be more than happy to get out of my garage. I believe they are magnaflow cats and were $100 each to me.
I gladly let them go for $100 for the pair with gaskets. They have a 3 bolt flange on both ends but can be cut off or you could put a 3 bolt flange on them and run them and still be able to swap out for others.
