Default Putting money down, need opinion on red rock and dual exhaust

I'm so very close to purchasing a 5.7 Limited Crewcab in Super White, but I need last minute advice on two things:

1. Does red rock really look good in person? I've seen pictures, but never seen it in person. It's a radical departure from my previous black interiors.

2. The Tundra that the dealer has is equipped with the TRD dual exhaust (what a waste of $1k). Is it a mistake to buy a Tundra with this exhaust on it? Is it going to make the truck any louder?

Thanks in advance.

can't tell u about the exhaust, other than yes. a waste of money. i prefer my $350 duals with flowmasters....not going to get $1k worth of power increase anyway so thats the way to go.

but u can tell from your previous thread that i have the sand beige in my super white but honestly if i do it again i'll get red rock now that ive seen it in real life....does that help u any? i know sand beige and red rock were waht u were contemplating last thread....

I have Red Rock and think it is Great, the color is much better in person than in photos but take a look at mine it you wish. But they dont show dirt much and just a have a different look, some like it some dont.

2008 Tundra- Red Rock

I didnt opt for the dual exhaust mainly because I figured if I ever did it I would go thrid party and get a better system. But to be honest I dont see me doing it, more important things to use the money for, on the truck that is.

Looks are going to based on opinion, so it will difficult to know who's opinion corresponds with yours. That being said, I bought it because I like the baseball glove leather look...even though it is slightly oranger than 'baseball'. I too primarily had black interiors prior to this one.

I am confused about your questions, since you state "what a waste of $1k". If you feel this way then don't even consider the purchase. The dealer had to locate my truck, which did not have the exhaust. However, I had them include the exhaust into the deal (and I did not pay the $1k MSRP either) and installed it myself. I did not purchase the exhaust for any supposed HP benefits, as I am realistic in knowing (based on many years in the performance car segment) there will only be a few HP points increased from a free-flow exhaust, since it the OE was designed for the OE intake and fuel provisions. I bought it for quality construction, good looks, and an appealing sound. Make sure you actually drive a OE exhaust and TRD exhaust Tundra (with the size engine you are buying) BEFORE making a firm decision. I love the mild exhaust note when driving normally and the Nascar similarity when I stomp it. To me it doesn't have the obnoxious raspiness that other aftermarket exhausts typically do. However, to each his/her own.

What I meant to say is that the only matching Tundra the dealer could find already has the TRD exhaust on it. My primary concern is the exhaust being too loud.

Thanks for all the feedback, I just wanted some input before I pulled the trigger.

I have the Red Rock leather with Black exterior which matches quite well and is a good contrast but I don't know if I would get it if I had a white exterior.

The TRD duals are great and it came with my truck and I don't regret it at all. The rumble is awesome.

Go look at different colours and then go back to the one you are interested in and you will know for sure!

have fun!

Don't waste your money on the TRD exhaust. They drone and don't give that much power. I'm not a fan of the red rock. I feel it's just splattered in there and looks out of place. If there was more of it in the cab, I would like it. Just my opinion......

I for one am happy with both the Red Rock and The TRD Duals. I think the exhaust sounds good without too much drone, and I like the looks of the truck from the rear, especially with the TRD swaybar back there as well. I paid about 850 for the exhaust and put it on myself, and would do it again if I had another truck. Just my opinion of course!

The TRD Duals don't drone and I'd choose them again.

We all have opinions on things and the way WE like them. I guess you can only listen to OUR opinions, then make your own. Good luck and make sure you post to let us know what you decided and of course, how you like your new truck .

I have a DC LTD 5.7 Sand Beige exterior and Red Rock Interior, it also came with the TRD Exhaust from the Factory.
I love the Red Rock, and have gotten alot of comments from friends and family that really like it, it's excellent to keep clean with the dark carpet.
I am also very happy with the Exhaust , no too loud, but when you pull away from people at a light, I always get that look of surprise!!!

My advice """GO FOR IT""

I'll just say that the red rock leather was the reason I bought my double cab versus the crew max. I got more options with this truck as well, but I would've been very happy with the crew max if it had the red rock. When I was choosing a new vehicle, the Tundra I actually bought was not at the dealership yet. Once I had seen the red rock, the decision was made instantly. Some of the pictures that I have seen do not do the color justice. Some pictures that some people have put up on here in other threads are pretty accurate as to just how awesome the red rock leather is!!!

I have a white CM with red rock interior. I get a ton of compliments on the color of the interior. I would only get the red rock interior if I needed to replace my truck.
