I've had true dual on my 3 previous trucks (98 sierra z71, 02 f150 Crew cab, 05 NissanTitan) and I love the sound, granted i only ran straight pipes on all of them and I lost my bottom end on very one but I liked the sound, I switched to a dual in single out magnaflow on my Titan and it made a night and day difference,
so a good single will perform as good if not better than true duals and your cost will be less, I did a "hybrid" system for my Tundra, I got a single in single out 18" magnaflow and a magnaflow y pipe installed and the next day I had the muffler take off and straight piped, what can I say I love the sound of straight pipes, but it sounds great and although I have not dynoed it I'm sure I didn't loose any power, here's a link to my set-up, hopefully it's ok to post a link on here...if not .....my bad...
