I know the TRD CAI showed absolutely no benefit in my wife's 5.7L. Over 40k since it was installed and the fuel consumption hasn't changed at all.

However, we don't have the TRD exhaust, so I don't know if that would change the results.

Installed both the TRD exhaust and CAI on my 07 crew max and the MPG benefit is still questionable. I get such better mileage with this truck than from my 97 K1500 with 4" procomp lift that I am always amazed at it's performance. I get 13.5 to 15.5 MPG mixed around town driving and 17 to close to 20 on road trips. I don't drive it real hard as I got used to not beating a dead horse as in the Chevy. The more you pushed it, the thirstier it got with little added performance. The addition of the exhaust and CAI certainly does not hurt the mileage and theoretically has helped. Besides, sounds really nice. IMHO

Sorry but if you are buying this as an investment for a return in the form of lower gas bills, you are only fooling yourself. Power and MPG increases are questionable and arguably non-existent. I sold my matching Volant intake and catback because there is really nothing more there except for the sound

Hey swank, so you did not see any power or MPG improvement with the Volant CAI and catback? Could you elaborate on your experience?

I asked because I just ordered the Volant CAI hoping it would give me an increase in MPG. I ordered it from AutoAnything.com so returning it should not be a problem.

I INSTALLED THE K+N COI,AND THE FLOW MASTER CAT BACK EXHAUST. THE K+N MADE THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE AS FAR AS HP GAIN AND LOW END STOMP. IT SOUNDS REAL GOOD WHEN I GET ON IT SO I CAN'T KEEP MY FOOT OFF THE FLOOR, SO I CAN'T HONESTLY SAY IT HAS HELP THE GAS MILEAGE. I GET A STEADY 14.4 MILE'S PER GALLON. I HAUL A 12' TRAILER THAT I HAVE PUT 2200 LB'S ON,AND THE TRUCK PULLS IT LIKE THERE IS NOTHING BEHIND IT. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT FLOW MASTER MAKES THE TRD EXHAUST FOR TOYOTA, SO IT'S CHEAPER TO BUY THE AFTER MARKET UNIT. BOTH ARE A GREAT ADDITION

Well, alot of marketing goes into these systems to make you feel like you are getting alot of performance. these mods simply just don't do much of anything but make noise.

If you combine these mods with a ECU upgrade or a supercharger, you may start to reap the benefits more substantially.

Bottom line: if its performance and economy your looking for, look no further than what you brought home from the dealer. Toyota manged to squeeze ~400 horses and ft lbs torque and still maintains decent gas mileage for a beastly truck. The engineers there know what they are doing and spend countless hours testing and redesigning parts for optimum performance and harmony. I know because I'm an engineer and that is just what we do. I'm not saying its a perfect formula, but you'll be hard pressed to find poorly designed parts on toyota vehicles.

Just be happy with what you got and if it aint enough, get the supercharger because anything less will just disappoint you

I think I will go ahead with the Volant CAI installation since it's already ordered and looks like an easy install/remove. It is scheduled to arrive Tuesday, I will post my results.

BTW, my stock 07 Tundra DC 5.7 2wd is averaging 16 MPG with approximately 60/40-city/hwy mixed driving.

My aFe improved gas approx 200kms per tank (sorry Canadian!)
This is huge!!!
keep in mind you have to disconnect the bat for a while so the ECU doesn't have to re-learn the new setup!
BUT DAMN!!!!!
I save at least $50/week on gas (again Canadian!)
