Performance Exhaust SystemsDetailed discussions regarding performance headers, single, dual, street and off-hard racing exhaust systems for your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Flowmaster 17425 Dual Exhaust", within the Performance Exhaust Systems forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I just installed a Flowmaster 17425 system on my '06 Tundra DC. This is a complete cat-back system w/ dual rear exit. It was very easy to install w/ clear, concise instructions. I had all of the slip joints welded, which Flowmaster recommends in the instructions. The going rate is around $460 on the internet, but I was able to find one on sale for $375 shipped to my door. I'm very pleased with the sound...it's exactly what I was looking for. Throaty, but not too obnoxious. I have not noticed any decrease in low-end torque; performance is the same as before the install. I really wanted duals w/ rear exit, and I had considered other systems (Borla). I'm extremely pleased with the Flows!
Hell yeah flow's all the way baby. I have 40 series with fake dual exhaust and they sound mean as hell. I love them because my dad would always use them with his muscle cars and I love the look I get from guys when they see a girl driving a supercharged tundra with after market exhaust. Oh and yes to all of the above questions that you have sophijo, and yes even the grunt when you accelerate. Everything that your looking for sophijo is what my truck sounds like.
as long as you don't dump your exhaust tip under the truck(like me) it shouldn't resonate. so any cat-back would work in that sense. it really depends on what you want the grunt to sound like.
I have the flowmaster 40 series on my 03 and it sounds badass! I also added a K&N cold air intake which make the pipes sound mean as hell when you get on it!
I'm considering the Flowmaster 17425 cat back system. Summit has it for 481.65 including S&H to my door...pretty reasonable.
Question:
I notice in the pics for the system, that several exit configurations are available. I was wanting to dump past the rear axle similar to stock exhaust (Down at an a angle by rear quarter panel) but on both sides. Is this possible?
I also wanted to bring the kit to a local muffler shop and have them install and weld. How much would you expect for installation?
Any gains on HP or low end torque?
Kevin

If you want to dump it after the rear axle just get the flow master muffler you want and have the shop do the pipes like you want them. Will be a lot cheaper than 481 you can probably get the same muffler for under 100.The purpose of most exhaust systems are to install them yourself so if you want to remove you can since most are bolt-on.
Thanks for the advice Big_Al1; would save some $$$.
Has anyone noticed rust and muffler failure within 3-4 yrs after install on Flowmasters?

Got the kit yesterday and installed today. Very nice system. Found via carjunky.com for $460.09 w/ free shipping. Got delivered 2 days after ordering. The discount sales of $375.00 is no longer a viable price if you google:
"Flowmaster Toyota Tundra exhaust system 2000 - 2005". Everyones' around $460 but not all are with free shipping and 2 day delivery.
Nice subtle rumble and very little drone at 60 - 70 mph. I haul stuff w/ a trailer so I opted to run the tailpipes out the sides (DOS). The chromed tips clamp nicely around the 2.5 pipes and give it a real nice touch. Real happy with the set up
I attached some pics.

Is corrosion a concern with this exhaust system? It's not stainless but the truck didn't ship from the factory with a stainless steel system originally so I don't know what to think.

Not true, my 2001 had a SS system intact. The flowmasters are not corrosion resistant like SS, but I think the gauge of steel is very ample of resisting corrosion for a long time (life of my vehicle given it just turned 97 K. Flowmasters are galvanized for corrosion resistance.
IMO,, Flowmaster has done the most research on low end torque, top end H.P, and sound. They don't sound like any glasspack or steel pack I used to run on previous vehicles. Nice throaty sound.
