I have had a troublesome exhaust leak on my HL for the last year. Just last week it has gotten alot worse. Now the leak is so bad I can hear it inside with the windows up.
I traced the leak to right where the CAT and the exhaust pipe connect right behind the xfer case. There are two bolts with springs on them holding the pipe mounted together with the rear of the cat. I tried to tighted the bolts but that did nothing.
Does anyone know if there is a gasket that could have burnt up or needs to be adjusted to correctly close the gap where the pipes meet? is this an easy fix?
Any information on the way these pipes connect would be very appreciative. (its the stock exhaust)
Just have a shop cut out the flanges and weld in a piece of pipe.
The flanges are likely washed out(corroded) a new gasket may still not seat properly if replaced.

Go to this site: http://www.toyodiy.com/ and enter in your VIN, you can go to the Drivetrain section, look at your exhaust blowup diagrams and find the exact part# for the gasket. I just purchased the same gasket you are referring to (except mine is for a Tundra), because I'm replacing my exhaust system cat-back. New gasket was $11 at the parts counter.

That site is awsome!! i wish the ordering piece was finish but "point and click" sure is easy in gathering the part numbers. and the exploded views aren't to shabby either!
I'll update how hard it was to change out these gaskets and maybe take a few pics to while i am down there. I'm sure alot of people will have this same problem as these things age.
